Are you passionate about sustainability, cycling and helping the most vulnerable in our communities? If so, the Bike Station is looking for new board members and we would like to hear from you!
The Bike Station is a social enterprise and charitable company based in Edinburgh and Perth, with a mission to develop environmentally sustainable communities by empowering people to have greater freedom to move by bike. We are focused on improving access to bikes for those who are traditionally underrepresented or excluded from sustainable travel initiatives. We do this through refurbishing and recycling donated bikes. We make refurbished bikes available free of cost to those who might not otherwise have access to them or sell them to fund our other activities, including our flagship community programme Shifting Gears which provides skills development, both cycling and repair, and employment opportunities.
Responsibilities:
- advocating for the Bike Station;
- overseeing the management and development of the Bike Station, which is delivered on a day to day basis by the CEO supported by other key employees;
- supporting the CEO of the Bike Station in managing operational risk;
- approving the priorities for the Bike Station and overseeing delivery of these priorities;
- overseeing legal and financial compliance and ensuring good governance in accordance with the Bike Station’s constitutive documents;
- evaluating performance against priorities.
Time commitment:
- attendance at board meetings approximately every six weeks face to face or via video call. Meetings are usually held on weekday evenings and last about 1.5-2 hours. Board papers, including financial papers, are circulated around [] days in advance for review prior to the meeting;
- attendance at the AGM;
- attendance at meetings of special focus groups (participation is voluntary and usually reflective of specific interests or skills of the relevant board member);
- attendance at occasional strategy or team building events, usually no more than twice a year.
Requirements:
- excellent interpersonal skills;
- ability to work collaboratively as a team;
- ability to constructively challenge;
- excellent and independent judgement and integrity;
- commitment to the Bike Station’s mission;
- willingness and ability to commit the time required and share knowledge and experience.
We are particularly interested to hear from those with finance, business or marketing experience or training. We would equally like to hear from those in our communities who might have previously used our services. Previous board experience is not essential as training will be provided.
We are keen to recruit trustees from diverse backgrounds and welcome applications from students or young people, women, ethnic minorities and people with disabilities.

The Enchanted Forest Community Trust (EFCT) is the charity behind Scotland’s longest-running and most successful sound and light show—an award-winning immersive experience that draws approximately 85,000 visitors each year and contributes around £10 million annually to the Highland Perthshire economy. The Role of CEO:
In 2026, as EFCT celebrates its milestone 25th event and welcomes its 1,000,000th visitor, the organisation is looking to the future and seeking a visionary Chief Executive to lead its next chapter.
The new CEO will work in close partnership with the Board of Trustees to steer the long-term strategic direction of the charity, ensuring the continued success, sustainability and creative evolution of its flagship event. They will safeguard the Trust’s financial health, uphold best-practice governance, and provide strong, values-led leadership to the operations, creative, and production teams. As the public ambassador for EFCT, the CEO will build and nurture key relationships with partners, funders, local authorities, media, and the wider community—protecting the reputation of the event and amplifying its impact.
The CEO will also oversee the Trust’s community grant-giving programme, ensuring that the surplus generated by the event continues to benefit organisations across Highland Perthshire in meaningful and impactful ways. With responsibility for strategic planning, financial management, operational delivery, risk oversight and compliance, they will ensure that the Trust continues to operate transparently, ethically, and sustainably.
Candidates will bring proven senior leadership experience, ideally gained in a creative, cultural, events, charity or tourism environment. They will have successfully led organisations through development and change, managed complex operational programmes, and implemented financially sound, future-focused strategies. A strong communicator and relationship-builder, they will demonstrate high emotional intelligence, commercial acumen, and an ability to inspire multidisciplinary teams. Outreach Worker and Cycle Trainer

About Us
Recyke-a-bike (part of Fallin Community Enterprises) has been in operation since 2005. We began as a small recycling social enterprise that quickly grew into a job club, using bike recycling as work experience for our members. Over the years we’ve seen a lot of growth and now offer training services and cycling outreach work, in addition to our bike recycling and sales through our well stocked and modestly priced shop.
Purpose
To support the delivery of the Bikeability programme in partnership with Cycling Scotland and Stirling and Clackmannanshire local authorities. The Outreach Worker and Cycle Trainer will also support the delivery of all cycling-based activities delivered by Recyke-a-bike.
Responsibilities
Main:
- Delivery of Bikeability Training to Children.
- Delivery of Adult Cycle Training.
- Maintenance of bikes and equipment for each of the following fleets: Stirling, Clackmannanshire, EBike, Practical Cycle Awareness Training (PCAT) and Adult Cycle Training Fleets.
- Managing health and safety within area of responsibility.
- Carrying out risk assessments for Bikeability sessions.
- Planning, risk assessing and delivering other cycle related sessions, events and activities.
- External liason with third parties including schools, local councils, community groups and organisations, as well as charities and businesses.
- Attending team meetings.
- Attending continuous professional development (CPD) training.
Additional:
- Building bikes for the shop when not busy.
- Collecting bike donations for the shop.
- Deliver Doctor Bike services across the Forth Valley when required.
- Assisting other departments where needed.
- Any other reasonable duties consistent with working for a small charitable organisation.
