Role

We are looking for organised, proactive and talented team members to support our Glasgow and Lothian Breastfeeding Buddies projects. Theis roles areis home-based but will include travel across the relevant health board region (expenses will be reimbursed).

About the roles:

The successful candidates will be responsible for delivering breastfeeding community support groups across the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (GGC) or NHS Lothian health board areas. The role in Glasgow is part time 16 hours per week, and the Lothian role is 19 hours per week, for 12 months to provide maternity cover for the current post holder.

Some of the key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Working with and supporting Breastfeeding Peer Supporters to carry out their role.
  • Managing Peer Supporter rotas for community groups.
  • Delivering all inductions for Peer Supporters.
  • Responding to referrals and signposting from health professionals into the service.
  • Co-ordinate, collect and collate data from Peer Supporters and service users in a timely manner, adhering to NCT data protection policies and processes.

You must have good communication skills and be able to build relationships and create a rapport with a wide range of people easily. This is a large and complex project and covers multiple locations so you must be able to confidently prioritise your own work, be highly organised and able to work independently.

Good IT skills are also essential – including Outlook, Word and Excel – and you must have good attention to detail.

It is essential for this post that you undertake the training to become an NCT Breastfeeding Peer Supporter. This requires breastfeeding experience of at least 3 months. The training can be undertaken within your working hours.

The role hours will predominantly be worked within the usual 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday timeframe, however, occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
