Role

The Fraser Centre Community Trust is a registered charity in the heart of Tranent, East Lothian. The charity was created in 2011 to regenerate a former picture house into a Community Hub.

In 2019 the vision was realised with the opening of our Community Hub which focuses upon: tackling poverty in Tranent; learning & development; arts & culture; health & wellbeing; recruitment, training & volunteering.

This new, fixed term part time role will focus upon key areas of development for the Trust:

  1. Climate Action
  2. Poverty
  3. Education
  4. Community Engagement

Climate Action:

The Fraser Centre Community Trust is committed to minimising our environmental impact and inspiring others in our community.

This role will:

  • Continue our carbon footprint review.
  • Represent the Trust as a member of East Lothian Climate Network.
  • Work with partners to improve our carbon footprint and inspire others.
  • Develop a climate action plan to guide the Trust.
  • Record and review the impact of our services.
  • Create community opportunities.

Poverty:

The Fraser Centre Community Trust is committed to tackling poverty in Tranent and surrounding areas.

  • Oversee our poverty focused activities/events including our Community Pantry.
  • Work with other local groups to represent the Trust to tackle local poverty.
  • Record and review the impact of our services.
  • Create opportunities to tackle poverty in the community.

Education

  • Develop links with local and regional High Schools, Primary Schools, Nurseries, Playgroups, Colleges and Universities.
  • Investigate links and opportunities.
  • Create partnerships.
  • Identify opportunities to visit The Fraser Centre.
  • Provide updates to contacts on upcoming events.

Community Engagement

This role will play a key role in the understanding of the needs and demands of our community.

  • Gather feedback, opinions, ideas from the community to identify opportunities and improvements.
  • Organise trial and test events open days, open day
  • Conduct visitor analysis
  • Record engagement information and visitor profile.

Skills / Experience Required:

Essential

  • Knowledge of The Fraser Centre community Trust our history, services and events
  • Evidence of commitment to climate action / tackling poverty
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong skills in Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Social Media
  • Local Knowledge of the area, groups, etc
  • Driving Licence

Desirable

  • Experience of representing an organisation at meetings and events
  • Experience of customer engagement
  • Experience of building partnerships with community groups
  • Experience of reviewing and analysing data
  • Experience of Fundraising

Additional Information:

  • This role will require the applicant to own or have access to a car.
  • Fuel shall be paid at 45p per mile for travelling to approved work-related purposes.
  • This role is funded by the Scottish Government: Investing in Communities fund.
  • This role will be expected to work alongside colleagues to find and apply for relevant funding.
