Nether Lochaber Community Association is a local, voluntary
association whose charitable aims are ‘to make Nether Lochaber a better place to live, work and visit’.
The purpose of the Inchree Barn project is to promote social, ethical, recreational and charitable activities, the
fostering of community spirit, and to promote community members’ educational development, and physical and
mental well-being.
Our membership is made up of people living in the area who want to get involved in improving their community.
We are pleased to advertise for the post of Project Officer, to assist the trustees in their vision of transforming
the Inchree Barn into a Community Hub for the Nether Lochaber area.
Job Description
Nether Lochaber Community Association will imminently take ownership of Inchree Barn. We have received funding from
the Scottish Land Fund to employ a Project Officer to carry out all aspects of taking forward the project to
convert and develop the proposed community hub This project is at an exciting stage of development, and we
require a proactive individual to assist us in seeking out funding opportunities as well as sustaining
relationships with the local community to engage with and support the project.
The post is offered on a hybrid basis, mainly working from home, with visits to Inchree to the barn site, and regular
meetings with the Trustees and their Inchree Steering Group, who are leading the Inchree Barn project.
Inchree is located close to the A82, between Onich and Corran, and is conveniently within 10 miles of Fort William,
the ‘Outdoor Capital of the UK’
Key Duties and Responsibilities.
- Proactively develop & manage a portfolio of funding opportunities
- Prepare and submit relevant
funding applications and to ensure all requirements for funding received are submitted timeously
- Engage
& develop relationships with the local community & stakeholders to engender support for the
project
- Provide a positive marketing & communications strategy in relation to the project's
development
- Undertake & manage campaign activity in the area to encourage a successful
result
- Create a detailed consultation database
- Explore educational, social & commercial
opportunities for the Inchree Barn
- Meet community members & stakeholders, & facilitate the
design team & contractors on site
- Monitor, implement & update basic site safety protocols at
site
- Keep a detailed log of all modes of consultation & discussion relating to the
project
- Ensure website & social media channels are kept up to date
- Provide a monthly
progress report to the NLCA Board of Trustees
- Prepare & review procedures & policies as
required, & ensure all documentation & records are kept up to date & in good order
- Other
duties appropriate to the post, arising from discussions with Line Management or the Board
The right person will be:
- An excellent communicator, able to engage community members & stakeholders in supporting the project
- Experienced in partnership working with a high capacity for collaboration
- Educated to degree level or a vocational equivalent, or able to demonstrate appropriate working experience for the role
- Able to use their initiative, act decisively, & work without close supervision
- Able to show good attention to detail
- Experienced at working with boards of trustees or directors management groups, in particular within the voluntary sector
- Strong administrative skills with excellent record keeping
- Computer & IT literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft 365, email, internet & social media
- Experienced with managing, monitoring & reporting operational budgets
- A full driving licence holder
