Role

About the Organisation

St Paul’s Youth Forum is changing lives in north-east Glasgow! We are a dynamic community and youthwork organisation, working with our local community to alleviate the worst effects of poverty in Blackhill/Provanmill and maximise opportunities for education, exercise, healthy eating and empowerment.

Thanks to significant funding from Glasgow City Council, and the support of the People Make Glasgow Communities team and Glasgow Life, we are thrilled to be able to reopen our local Community Centre and establish a community hub in the heart of Blackhill. The Café will be at the heart of this new venture.

Purpose of the Role

Are you passionate about the power food has to bring people together? Would you love to develop a new social enterprise? At SPYF, food has long been at the core of many of our programmes and we are hugely excited for the potential of this new cafe.

The Molendinar Cafe Manager will set up and manage the cafe within the SPYF Molendinar Community Centre, providing a vital service for the local community. A key purpose of the cafe will be to provide a free healthy meal for anyone in need, alongside other menu options.

The Molendinar Cafe Manager will be responsible for developing all protocols, ensuring they are adhered to, and managing a team member who will look after the cafe during late afternoon and evening shifts.

Working closely with staff, Trustees, local authorities, funders and external commercial organisations, the Molendinar Cafe Manager will work to ensure that a welcoming space operates for the benefit of, not only young people and local residents, but people throughout Glasgow.

Thanks to funding from Glasgow City Council’s Place Fund, this post is funded for 1.5 years with a view to extend this subject to further funding.

Closing date for applications: 5pm on Tuesday 12th September. Interviews will be held in Blackhill, Glasgow on Wednesday 20th September.
