This role is full time and fixed term for 12 months. Some evening and weekend work will be required for this post. The salary for the role is £28,101 - £30,000 per annum.

Job Description

As our Substance Misuse Nurse, you will provide a range of health and wellbeing and harm reduction interventions to service users in accordance with the agreed model of service delivery. You will deliver high standards of nursing care to those affected by substance misuse and be responsible for the assessment of care needs, development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care.

You will be an advocate for our patients, working closely with them to identify the physical, psychological, spiritual and social support they need. You will work flexibly providing a high standard of nursing care in a variety of settings, promoting the health and well-being of service users whilst maintaining a safe, caring and therapeutic environment.

You will participate as an active member of the nursing and multi-disciplinary teams, accountable for your practice, and work in partnership with other health care professionals, psycho-social case managers, patients and others in the delivery of care. You will support the delivery of specific healthcare clinics or groups, designed to support and educate clients, providing them with practical tools to overcome life’s challenges, this will include pre-session planning and post-session evaluation.

The post is within the Connect4Change Service who provide multidisciplinary intensive, flexible, and assertive outreach support for vulnerable people who:

  • are 16+ and a resident of South Ayrshire
  • may be disengaging from core alcohol or drugs services
  • and / or have had recent contact with emergency services due to their alcohol and drug use
  • and / or have experienced a recent non-fatal overdose

Please note that you must have current NMC registration as a Mental Health Nurse to be considered for this position.

Essential Skills

  • Registered Nurse with current NMC registration and post registration clinical experience
  • Experience of delivering nursing interventions in a community setting
  • Demonstrable experience of comprehensive assessment of need including risk assessments
  • Knowledge of safe storage, handling and administration of drugs in particular controlled drugs
  • Be able to work constructively with a wide variety of groups and individuals in a range of settings and work roles
  • Be able to assess plans, implement and evaluate service user care and act accordingly if untoward changes occurred
  • Be able to positive engage service users and treat the with respect and dignity
  • Have effective written and communication skills
  • Ideally you will have experience of working in a drug and alcohol setting

Safe Harbour - Edinburgh Gender Based Violence Service

Through funding from the Big Lottery Fairer Life Chances Programme we have established our Gender Based Violence (GBV) Hub (Safe Harbour) located in Leith, Edinburgh. Domestic abuse support is based on risk assessment and is often a crisis intervention but alongside this, Sacro will provide wraparound, holistic support via counselling, wellbeing activities and peer support. Safe Harbour will be a safe, non-judgemental and welcoming place to meet and engage with peers and professionals. Support offered will not be time limited focusing on the ethos of the right support at the right time.

Safe Harbour brings three of our specialist GBV services:

1. Lunar- supporting women and trans people selling or exchanging sex.

2. Aditi- supporting women of colour who have experienced domestic abuse, Honour-Based Violence and Female Genital Mutilation.

3. FearFree- supporting heterosexual men and those from the LGBT+ communities including trans people.

Safe Harbour is an inclusive service offering dedicated time and space to those accessing any of our Edinburgh GBV services including three women only days.

We are looking for a specialist transgender worker, ideally with lived experience who can provide support to transgender people affected by Gender Based Violence (GBV), supporting those accessing the Hub. We know how difficult the landscape has become for transgender people in recent months and believe strongly that a safe space with knowledgeable and friendly support is essential in addressing some of the harm caused by an increasingly hostile environment.

The successful candidate will have knowledge and understanding of the unique challenges faced by transgender people and be able to offer meaningful support to them. This service will be an in-person service, operating from Leith, and within the community where appropriate.

The post holder must have a gendered understanding of domestic abuse and trauma informed practice , be an effective communicator as well as highly organised with effective casework management skills. We are values led organisation and we are looking for a candidates whose values align with ours.

This is a brand new role and offers the successful candidate an exciting opportunity to bring their knowledge and experience and contribute significantly to the development and shaping of the post.

Membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme (PVG) will be a requirement for this post.

The Role:

The postholder will be part of a team providing support to Veterans and their spouses/partners, in their own homes and local communities within the Renfrewshire, Inverclyde, Glasgow and East & West Dunbartonshire areas, enabling them to live as full, active and independent a life as possible, aligned to the individual assessed needs.

We are seeking a full-time Family Support Development Officer to lead our Inverclyde Family Support Service.

This post will develop, deliver, support and promote a range of family support and engagement for family members aged 16+ years who are affected by someone else’s substance use. The post is supported by a Family Support Worker, and works in partnership with partner organisations, families and communities. This is a fixed term post to 31 March 2027 (potential extension subject to funding).

The post is based in Inverclyde (main base: Greenock) and has an area-wide remit involving significant travel throughout the area and some to our offices in Glasgow. It is expected that the post holder will be required to work some evenings and occasional weekends. Due to the nature of this post, access to a car is essential. This post will be part of Scottish Families’ staff team and be supervised by the Senior Family Support Development Officer.

We are seeking applicants with a degree in a relevant subject or equivalent professional qualification, and experience of direct client work, group work, and direct work with families, as well as identifying and managing risk. Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of issues for families affected by substance use, values underpinning advocacy, and an understanding of the voluntary sector. The ability to encourage and promote the development of family support groups, and effectively and sensitively advocate for others, are essential, as well as strong organisational skills and interpersonal and communication skills.

This service supports those in receipt of a Direct Payment (DP), Individual Living Fund (ILF), or an individual budget (IB), helping them remain in their own homes and live independently.

You will play a vital role in empowering individuals to manage their support arrangements effectively and efficiently.

Additionally, as our Inclusive Living Adviser you will:

  • Provide accurate, person-centred information and practical support to people receiving Self-directed Support (SDS), helping them establish and manage their support arrangements effectively
  • Deliver advice and support using a range of methods, including phone and video calls, home visits, and office-based appointments, adapting your approach to individual needs
  • Work in partnership with colleagues, the Local Authority, and other organisations or professionals to coordinate support, resolve queries, and ensure consistent guidance
  • Support the planning and delivery of information sessions for people and professionals, including preparation and follow-up activity
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records using databases and digital systems, ensuring all contacts, actions, outcomes, and next steps are recorded in line with service standards
  • Manage your workload and appointments effectively, prioritising tasks, meeting response times, and escalating complex issues or risks to the SDS Team Lead when required

In order to be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Ability to work with a wide range of people and stakeholders, using different communication approaches
  • Ability to listen, gather information, understand individual circumstances, and provide clear options or signposting in a supportive way
  • Ability to share information in accessible formats, with adjustments where required
