Brew & Blether is a warm, person‑centred, home-based support service for adults living with long‑term conditions, disabilities, cancer journeys, and unpaid carers. Over a gentle, four‑week block of support, we provide light-touch practical help, friendly conversation, and confidence-building support that helps people feel more connected, more independent, and more able to manage at home.

The service reduces isolation, improves wellbeing, supports smoother hospital discharges, and helps individuals access long-term community connections. The Mental Health & Wellbeing Fund through Community Solutions supports this role.

The Role

As our Brew & Blether Coordinator, you will deliver practical, compassionate, early‑intervention support directly to people in their homes. You’ll build trusting relationships, offer companionship, and help people link into wider services and supports. This is a highly rewarding role where “care without the clock” is central.

The Role:

As a member of our Finance department, you will:

  • Provide organisation-wide support by ensuring the accurate and timely processing of financial transactions.
  • Champion effective internal financial controls throughout the organisation.
  • Process purchase and sales invoices efficiently and accurately.
  • Support the Finance Manager in preparation of month-end, year-end accounts, as well as routine ad hoc financial tasks.
  • Manage payment runs and maintain database of all creditors.
  • Provide guidance, training and support to staff across the organisation on financial procedures and systems.

The candidate will ideally...:

  • Have at least one year of relevant accounting experience.
  • Hold an HNC/HND (or higher) in relevant subjects.
  • Demonstrate ability to work autonomously and independently when required, taking ownership of tasks and prioritising effectively.
  • Have strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial processes.
  • Show excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide guidance and support to staff across the organisation.
  • Possess ability to think proactively and have good problem-solving skills, with a collaborative approach to working within the finance team.
  • Bring a positive attitude toward the objectives and values of The Scottish Wildlife Trust.

This post is restricted to female applicants in order to reduce barriers of access for the all-female residents.

We are looking for a Project Worker, who will work as part of a team seeking to meet the practical, emotional and spiritual needs of women with multiple complex needs. As part of a team you will ensure the smooth daily running of the therapeutic centre and help to create a safe supportive caring and empowering environment for service users.

Your main tasks include leading group work and supporting residents on a one to one basis. You will also provide appropriate emotional and practical support to service users assisting in budgeting, debt management, addiction support, household routines, arranging specific specialist help and liaising with other external agencies.

Experience of working with vulnerable and homeless people, experience of working within a team and the ability to deal appropriately with challenging behaviour are essential for the role.

SVQ3 in Social Care, Promoting Independence or equivalent as listed by SSSC as appropriate for a Housing Support Worker, or willingness to work towards this is essential.

Community Alliance Trust is a development trust serving Greater Craigmillar. We bring together individuals and organisations to identify need and advocate for positive local change.

We also host and run services from The White House supporting the people of Craigmillar. This includes an open-door policy for those in need, hosting welfare and benefit advisors, as well as directly running community gardening sessions.

We have funding to expand and develop our work this year, including this new role to restore Craigmillar Library Garden.

We are looking for an experienced community gardener to lead our work transforming the neglected grassy area at Craigmillar Library into an edible and sensory community garden. The role will include co-designing the garden layout, engaging with volunteers, and motivating them in gardening sessions at the library.

Gardening sessions will include repairing and building raised beds, prepping the ground for the sensory garden, planting a range of scented, colourful and edible plants suitable for Scotland, supporting volunteers to increase their confidence and gardening skills, and building community.

The project will take place over five months on a part-time basis, with twice-weekly gardening sessions taking place most weeks.

While this project is discrete, we will be looking for a community gardener at our new Niddrie Mill site on a long-term basis. This will be a much larger community garden serving Greater Craigmillar. Please let us know if you are also interested in this permanent position, as we will be hiring for the Niddrie Mill Gardener role from the pool of applicants for the Craigmillar Library Community Gardener.

By creating a safe, supportive and inclusive therapeutic space, the Counsellor will help individuals express their feelings, build coping strategies and move forward in a way that feels right for them.

Overall Purpose

Manage the coordination and delivery of qualifications within ARC Scotland’s assessment centre, ensuring it meets all Qualifications Scotland’s requirements. Contributing to the delivery of ARC Scotland’s workplan, vision and mission.

Leadership

  • Work with the Head of Accredited Training to deliver ARC Scotland’s overarching workplan.
  • Provide support and guidance to the administration team.
  • Recruit, induct, manage and support (as the first point of contact) the team of freelance contractors delivering high quality assessment and verification across the assessment centre.
  • Coordinate the deployment of freelance contractors in the delivery of accredited qualifications across Scotland.
  • Manage and facilitate the standardisation of assessment and verification activity in accordance with Qualifications Scotland’s requirements.
  • Contribute to the ongoing strategic planning and development of ARC Scotland.
  • Facilitate and / or contribute to relevant ARC Scotland meetings.
  • Deputise for the Head of Accredited Training in their absence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be the first point of contact between ARC Scotland and Qualifications Scotland in accordance with their requirements.
  • Maintain ARC Scotland’s compliance with Qualification Scotland’s requirements.
  • Be the first point of contact with Qualifications Scotland in coordinating external verification activity, approval applications and ensuring any recommendations are implemented timeously.
  • Manage partnerships between ARC Scotland and customers (managing existing resources in retaining and gaining new business along with the Head of Accredited Training).
  • Review, update and refresh ARC Scotland’s policies and procedures in line with current legislation and Qualifications Scotland guidelines and ensuring they are implemented.
  • Ensure suitable records are maintained and updated in accordance with the requirements of Qualifications Scotland and ARC Scotland’s data management policy.
  • Communicate changes and updates to and from Qualifications Scotland to all relevant parties.
  • Notify Qualifications Scotland of any changes which may affect the centre’s ability to meet the quality assurance criteria.
  • Carry out assessment and verification activity as required to maintain competence and quality assurance standards.
  • Discuss monthly candidate progress reports with freelance assessors and verifiers and provide partner organisations with regular updates. Agree and implement remedial action where required progress has not been made.
  • Monitor payment claims against assessment and verification time claimed.
  • Gather, process and analyse feedback as part of the quality assurance processes within ARC Scotland. Use feedback to promote services or to address areas of improvement identified timeously.
  • Support the development and implementation of communication and marketing strategies within ARC Scotland.
  • Conduct any investigations required in accordance with ARC Scotland’s policies and procedures.

  • Be flexible in approach and adaptable in managing own workload.
  • Work flexible hours and be able to travel throughout Scotland as required.

The Play-Sense group has been appreciated by parents who have told us that their children enjoy our messy play, sensory art and music sessions and benefit from our sensory room which they have access to during the play group time.

Who Comes to Play-Sense?

Parents and their pre-school children who have a range of disabilities or additional needs including several who are autism.

Our group has also previously been attended by those who are asylum seekers and from a range of different nationalities including African, Chinese, Korean and Polish.

About Family Nights

Family Night is a time when we provide the childcare and parent/carer get the chance to have a chat and a break. A light meal is provided for the kids. This group usually meets on the 3rd Thursday of the month from 5-6.30pm.

Who Comes to Family Nights

Parent/carers and their children of all ages who have a range of disability or additional support needs including several who are autism. Siblings are also welcome. It has become a friendly community where parents can get peer support and children can play and interact with others.

Who we are looking for

Sessional worker for

  • 4 hours each Tuesday morning, £10.90/hour
  • 3 hours once a month on a Thursday evening.
  • Seasonal trips and activities during school holidays.

We are looking for experienced, reliable childcare workers who enjoy working with children and would like sessional work. Candidates must be committed to equality of opportunity and enjoy working with families from all backgrounds. Experience of working with children with autism and other additional support needs is helpful but not essential.
