Our Communications and Impact Group are responsible for communications, media, training and event planning plus engagement with the third sector and partners across Dumfries and Galloway. The group also leads on systems, data and insights, evaluation and impact, storytelling, regional and national sector promotion and internal communications. The team includes Development Officers, Support Officers, Coordinators and external partners and advisors.

The post holder will support the participation strategy for CYCJ, ensuring that we engage with a diverse group of stakeholders, including children and young people. The post holder will also proactively engage with partners, maintaining constructive relationships through which CYCJ is able to inform practice and policy development, assist in the implementation and delivery of work and support our current participation groups/work. The John Smith Trust supports the development of sustainable, fair and inclusive societies in Eastern Europe, the South Caucasus and Central Asia (the EESCCA regions). We run regular fellowship programmes for exceptional individuals aged 25-35 from 12 countries across the EERSCCA regions who are working in the field of climate and sustainability, governance and justice, or equality, diversity and inclusion. Govan Community Project provides a range of holistic services for people seeking asylum, refugees and vulnerable migrants in the Greater Govan area of Glasgow.
We are recruiting a mental health support worker to support our Wellbeing project, providing mental health and wellbeing support to New Scots.
You will be responsible for working with New Scots using co-production skills to co-design a trauma-informed wellbeing programme. Through tailored 1:1 meetings you will support New Scots to develop knowledge and strategies which empower individuals to understand and self manage their mental health and wellbeing and know where to access support when needed.
You will also work in partnership with other health organisations to coordinate delivery of an awareness workshop, providing a platform for participants to find out about other wellbeing support available to them.
Our ideal candidate will have experience of working with people presenting with common mental health challenges, preferably in a community based setting. You will have a good understanding of how the UK hostile refugee/asylum system impacts on the mental health of New Scots. You will be confident in identifying safeguarding concerns and acting on these appropriately. You will be confident to deliver 1:1 support with interpreters using a range of resources. You will have the skills to be able to manage a varied workload, working independently and as part of a team.

About the service/department
Across three locations, the branch supports 15 individuals within houses of multiple occupants. Each individual has their own complex needs including, but not limited to, visual/hearing impairment, physical and learning disabilities, epilepsy, diabetes and congenital rubella syndrome. We see each person as the individual that they are, and endeavour to provide services that support their interests, aspirations, health needs and wellbeing.
Individuals are supported in every element of their lives within their own homes and out in the community. The services are focused on improvement and development as well as sustaining what is already in place to meet needs.
About you
The Registered Manager role ensures a management presence in the services, taking responsibility for the strategic oversight of operations and practice; delivery of commissioned hours, recruiting and skills matching staff and providing them with full inductions, training, support, supervision and, where there is a need, formal performance management.
Audit and review of services on an individual and holistic basis to ensure support strategies and records remain up to date and relevant. The Registered Manager will build working relationships that allow them to work in partnership with the people that we support, their families and associated health and social work professionals to help overcome everyday challenges and plan for a positive future. You will develop and lead the Services Improvement Plan and the Organisations Strategic Plan, ensuring completion of action areas, acknowledgement of challenges and successes and identifying themes, learning and next steps to ensure continuous development.

Heavy Sound is a Community Interest Company, incorporated in 2015, based in East Lothian. We work with disconnected young people and adults, re-engaging them through strength-based activities of interest including music, biking, sports, creative arts, education, mentoring and 1:1 therapy. By building trusting relationships we help inspire positive opportunities for further learning, life skills development, and future training and employment.
Job role:
The role is to manage and deliver outreach youth work projects, activities, and events across East Lothian, working in partnership with existing youth clubs and other stakeholders.
Heavy Sound has a 40ft single decker bus, The Community Reach & Inclusion Bus (The Crib) which provides community outreach initiatives including music, creative arts, and bike activities. The role will involve bringing equipment, and on occasions our bus (The Crib), along to youth clubs and community events, and running various activities from it. Activities will mainly be music and bike-based consisting of DJ’ing, electronic music production and basic bike mechanics. If there is not suitable space for The Crib, activities take place in community halls etc.
The role can either be part-time to deliver the above, or potentially full-time if the applicant has an additional skillset in music, creative arts, biking, sports, outdoor pursuits, education, or mentoring.
An ability to drive the bus is not essential but would be highly desirable. Only a normal Category B driving license is required as the vehicle doesn’t carry passengers and is classed as a ‘mobile project vehicle’ by DVLA.
Flexible working is required as there will be evening and occasional weekend work.
