We are looking for a Community Support Services Coordinator to join our amazing team in the Lothian area. This role is focused on making sure that people affected by chest, heart and stroke conditions get the help they need and get back to doing the things that matter to them.
Through our Community Support Services, you will support people to have the confidence and tools to self-manage their health condition and live as independently as possible. You’ll also help people get back to doing the things that are important to them – from simple things like walking to their local shop following a stroke, to returning to a sky-high hobby of gliding!
You’ll be directly involved in supporting people with chest, heart and stroke conditions through both one-to-one and group services in both community and hospital settings. You’ll work with the rest of the Community Support Services team in Lothian, and manage a team of incredible volunteers, to make a real difference to the lives of people with our conditions.

VOCAL - Voice of Carers Across Lothian - seeks an enthusiastic and experienced Carer Support Practitioner to join its busy team to provide casework support to carers, with a specific focus on South East Edinburgh. The postholder will support unpaid carers to access person-centred support for their caring situation, health and wellbeing and personal development.
VOCAL is a carer-led organisation and provides a wide range of services to support unpaid carers in their caring role. The postholder will be expected to work as part of a team, improve outcomes for carers and maximise uptake of VOCAL services.
Applicants will evidence excellent people, and communication skills, casework and person-centred support work. Applicants will also demonstrate awareness of the diverse range of caring situations, the impact of caring on peoples’ lives and barriers carers face at different points of the caring journey. Kindred is a highly respected, vibrant charity supporting families of children with disabilities and complex healthcare needs in Edinburgh, the Lothians and Fife.
We are currently looking to expand our board and welcome applications from people interested in becoming Trustees. Our Trustees are responsible for Kindred’s governance and for overseeing its strategic direction and operational performance.
Prior trustee experience is not essential. Of greater importance is a belief in the importance of Kindred’s work and a willingness to apply your skills and energy to support Kindred’s staff, board and families.

Our vision is that all parents of children with complex needs in Scotland have the support and resources they need to create a happy family home.
We currently support over 800 families of children and young people with complex needs. We provide information, advocacy and emotional support. We also provide specialised counselling services and a Parenting Programme (Early Positive Approaches to Support).

Training Details
There is a comprehensive induction pack and process for all new Board members. We are also able to provide trustee training through the Edinburgh Voluntary Organisations Council (EVOC).
Flexibility & Time Commitment
There are 6 in-person or online 2-hour board meetings per year, including the AGM. The meetings are currently held on Wednesday afternoons. Roughly half the meetings are in-person at our central Edinburgh office though we can be flexible to suit Trustees’ circumstances. Trustees are also expected to attend the annual Kindred away day.
Trustees are expected to contribute to the charity beyond preparing for and attending board meetings. Contributions could include supporting fundraising and advocacy activities, providing support on IT, HR, financial or governance issues.
