About this role
East Lammermuir is a rural Community Council area within the Dunbar and East Linton Ward of East Lothian and includes the villages of Innerwick, Oldhamstocks, Spott and Stenton. East Lammermuir looks set to host numerous renewable energy projects over the next 10 years. Multiple energy developers are active in the area and the need for effective coordination between the local community, developers, transmission owners, and East Lothian Council has become critical.
This new role will facilitate collaboration between developers, transmission owners, East Lothian Council, and the East Lammermuir communities. The primary aim of the role is to balance these multiple perspectives, in particular ensuring that community views are appropriately considered at all stages of the development process for energy-related infrastructure proposed or in operation in the area, from the very earliest stages of any planned development proposal.
The role is being funded by SPEN and SSE Renewables for a three-year period in the first instance and is expected to provide learning relevant to other locations where multiple renewables projects and technologies are planned.

Strathnairn Community Council are looking to recruit a dedicated Project Specialist. Assisting a vibrant rural community by engaging in project proposals, you will have a passion for supporting rural communities in local matters such as road safety and the environment. Your role will be vital in delivering a variety of reports both written and verbal, that will assist the community in communicating with local authorities, residents and other community councils alike in response to project proposals, road safety matters and community concerns. You will have experience analysing documents, data and technical information and be able to synthesise to deliver relevant responses to community matters. Strong IT skills are essential.
Working effectively without close management you will need to work closely with the Community Council. Managing tasks and activities in a time sensitive manner whilst exercising integrity and accountability in representing Strathnairn Community Council is essential.
This is a part-time role comprising 15 to 20 hours per week working from home and occasionally, Farr Hall, Strathnairn on a self-employed basis. Occasional meetings may be required with external bodies and attendance at the monthly Community Council meeting will be required either online or in person.

You will empower people to make decisions about their future with a view to improving their overall health and wellbeing and quality of life. Your duties will include developing case plans, identifying actions required and agreeing timelines. You will monitor and evaluate progress towards achievements of goals. You should have proficiency and confidence using Microsoft packages and electronic case management systems. You should also have experience in collaborating with vulnerable individuals, ideally within ethnic minority communities.
