As a Board Member, you will:

• Provide strategic direction and governance for the charity

• Contribute to key decisions that impact people bereaved by murder & suicide

This is a voluntary, unpaid role, with reasonable expenses reimbursed.

Founded in 1994 PETAL Support provides practical and emotional support, advocacy, support and counselling for the families, friends, children and young people of murder, culpable homicide and suicide victims.

PMH Borders is a much valued perinatal mental health charity established for over 16 years with a proven track record and evidence of growing demand. We provide psychological therapies and counselling to parents and families across the Scottish Borders from our base in Galashiels.

Could you help influence how Scotland’s data is used and understood?

Scottish Ministers are recruiting members to the ScotStat Board for Official Statistics. The purpose of the ScotStat Board is to provide recommendations, advice and critical challenge to the Chief Statistician on the production and dissemination of Scottish devolved statistics.

Members of the Board will help promote innovation and set priorities for Official Statistics in Scotland. Members will become familiar with the Official Statistics landscape, and gain experience of strategic thinking and influencing within Government. Members will have the opportunity to work alongside and network with individuals from a range of backgrounds from across Scotland.

We are particularly interested in recruiting Board members with expertise in one of the following areas:

• communications or data journalism
• health
• education
• users of the Census
• business

The Board meets around four times per year. You should ensure you have the agreement of your employer to attend meetings of the Board.

Meetings will normally be hybrid with in-person meetings in Atlantic Quay, Glasgow.

Appointment will be for an initial term of two years.

Remuneration and Expenses

This is an unpaid role. However, you may be able to claim reasonable travel and subsistence expenses.

Time commitment

The Board meets six times a year during the day. Meetings are held in person, alternating between our Edinburgh and Glasgow offices.

Board Members may also join one of our committees, which usually meet online four times a year:

• Business Development Committee
• People Committee

Reasonable travel and other agreed expenses will be reimbursed.

We are a community-based housing association which has been serving the communities of Shettleston, Greenfield, Springboig and Sandyhills in the East End of Glasgow for 50 years. Our vision is of thriving and prosperous local communities where all residents enjoy great homes and services, an attractive physical environment, and good life chances.

As a Registered Social Landlord and a Scottish Charity (No. SCO36687), we have nearly 2,500 rented homes in management and an ongoing development programme of new homes. In addition, we have an established track record of delivering non-housing projects and services to benefit the community, often in collaboration with other local voluntary organisations and agencies.

The Association is the parent of two subsidiary companies: Upkeep Shettleston Community Enterprise and East End Housing Development Company. Around 100 people are employed across the Group which has a combined annual turnover of c £14 M.

The Association’s Board consists mainly of tenants and other local residents elected by the members of the Association who all live within our area of operation. There are also three designated spaces for the Board to fill by co-option who do not need to live within the local community.

The Board meets seven times a year. It also has two sub-committees and Board Members usually serve on at least one of these. There are other occasional meetings and training sessions. Meetings are usually held on a Tuesday evening, with the option to attend in person or on-line.

Trustees are there to lead, control and supervise the organisation's activities. It's the part of the organisation with formal power and responsibility, which are detailed in the governing document, and backed up by law.

Previous experience on a Charity Board is not required and a Trustee induction and training will be provided. The Board of Trustees is supported by a highly skilled Senior Management Team including a Chief Executive that is accountable to the Board.

Who We Are Looking For

We are particularly interested in recruiting Trustees with professional skills and experience in digital, data, fundraising, finance and marketing.

We would welcome applicants who do not have these listed skills but have experience in the health and social care, housing, advice services or welfare rights.
