YMCA-YWCA Cupar is a local charity in North East Fife working with its communities to offer a broad range of opportunities and experiences to build confidence, encourage learning, and to enhance individuals lives and well-being.

The YMCA-YWCA offers a full weekly programme of activities – youth work, adult learning, family learning and has its own youth café facility. It works closely with locally partners to deliver activity sessions and workshops, and there’s community based one-to-one support and counselling sessions available too.

The YMCA-YWCA is a member of the YMCA international young people’s movement, which has adopted its Vision 2030. This Vision is underpinned by the key pillars of Community Wellbeing, Just Work, Meaningful Work and Sustainable Planet.

This post focuses on the development of local initiatives under the ‘Sustainable Planet’ theme. The post holder will be part of a Scotland wide project, where 8 local YMCAs will employ staff to deliver community-based climate action initiatives with children, young people, adults and families. The project is funded by the National Lottery Community Fund and commences in early 2026.

As the Development Worker, you will be employed by the YMCA-YWCA Cupar and based at their headquarters at Marathon House, Bonnygate, Cupar. This is a part-time post of 20 hours per week, with flexible working hours during daytime, evenings and some weekends. The post will end 30th June 2028.

You will work within a small team of staff and volunteers. Whilst there will be a real community focus for this post, you will have opportunities to develop young people and community led activities at the YMCA-YWCA and at its outreach project, at Cupar Youth Café at Castlehill.

Walking Scotland is Scotland’s walking and wheeling charity. Walking and wheeling are the most affordable and practical ways to help solve some of Scotland’s biggest challenges, from health inequalities to the climate-nature emergencies.

We promote the benefits of walking and wheeling on our physical, social, and mental health. Our programmes connect communities and inspire positive behaviour change. We also improve places and spaces to walk and wheel.

A key element of this work involves the delivery of our walking programmes, and we are seeking a senior leader who can inspire and develop our approach to this work. Our programme settings are based on national and international evidence of what works best to support people to become more active with walking and wheeling being one of the best ways to achieve this

So, as a potential candidate for this new post:

  • Are you able to take a leading role by managing our walking programme teams to deliver on our commitments?
  • Are you able to build, manage and nurture highly effective relationships, influencing key stakeholders, partner organisations and funders to increase walking opportunities in Scotland?
  • Can you demonstrate competency as a senior leader and contribute meaningfully to a Senior Leadership Team?.
  • Are you adaptable and resilient and able to anticipate challenges and developing plans to solve them?

You will work closely with the Chief Executive Officer and Senior Leadership Team to champion and deliver Walking Scotland’s Mission, Strategy, and Plans. You will also lead a multidisciplinary team to drive forward Walking Scotland’s key objectives within the programme settings.

We also manage and distribute funds, support volunteering and help co-ordinate Moray’s Climate Action Network. In addition, we are the accountable body for the Moray Local Action Group, a group leading community-led local development in Moray.

This post aims to support members to build power in their community and win real changes locally and nationally. You will be working with the organisers across Scotland to build and support branches of Living Rent in Dundee.

Living Rent has gone from strength to strength in recent years and we continue to build power in communities up and down our country. We hope you will consider joining our growing team!

Living Rent is hiring a full-time community organiser to support members organise in their neighbourhoods to challenge the issues they face and to fight for better housing and a system that works for the common good. The role entails outreach (stalls, door knocking), recruiting members, and supporting members to organise meetings, take responsibilities locally, build democratic neighbourhood branches and take part in city-wide and national structures.

This post will specifically focus on targeting areas that are vulnerable to flooding, supporting people in those areas to organise around issues that they care about and learn about climate change and how to ensure that our homes and neighbourhoods are more prepared for its impacts.

The organiser will support members to research their issues, select relevant campaigns, define achievable wins , organise direct actions and support members in negotiations with relevant targets including private/ social landlords, private companies, the local municipality. You will aim to recruit members and support them to build power across Scotland.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about building real people power and excited about the chance to work for a young, diverse and member-run organisation. Experience in recruitment, training delivery, community education or campaigns is welcome; however enthusiasm, willingness to learn and commitment to social justice are more important than previous experience as training will be provided. This role may suit someone with experience in sales, street fundraising or other customer/public facing work, who wishes to move into organising.

This post is accountable to Living Rent’s democratic structures and line managed by Living Rent’s Wider Scotland Head Organiser. Living Rent staff members primarily work Monday - Friday between 11am and 7pm, though the work will sometimes need to be done at other times of day, along with some weekends. Some unsocial hours are inevitable and flexibility is vital.

This role is funded through the Climate Fund of the National Lottery.
