About the role
As a Project Worker, you will be part of an enthusiastic and creative team who provide daily support to adults with learning disabilities and autism as they participate in workshop activities of their choosing within our site-based services, and café sites.
For this role, we are particularly interested in hearing from individuals with skills and experience in music, or drama, or performing arts.
We are also interested in hearing from candidates with experience in care or support generally.
The primary function of this role is to provide 1:1 support to students within workshop sessions. You will work closely with both individuals and groups to help them engage, participate, and achieve their personal goals in a safe and supportive environment.
You will also be expected to assist with personal care tasks throughout the day, where required. This includes support with toileting needs, other private hygiene tasks, and eating and drinking. All personal care must be delivered with dignity, respect, and sensitivity. Additionally, throughout the week our Project Workers will provide support to our students that access our Café sites in partnership with Edinburgh Leisure.
There are opportunities for Project Workers to take on a more active leadership role within workshops as a workshop facilitator. This aspect of the Project Worker role focuses on leading workshop activities, and involves contributing to the planning, delivery, and record keeping of workshop activities to ensure they align with our RISE curriculum with support from our Curriculum Leads.
Citizens Advice Edinburgh works in partnership with NHS Lothian, the NHS Charity, and the Community Help & Advice Initiative (CHAI) to deliver an outreach advice service at the Western General (WGH), Royal Infirmary (RIE), and Royal Hospital for Children & Young People (RHCYP) in Edinburgh. The service comprises 3 part-time staff members at the Royal Infirmary, 1 part-time staff member at the Western General, and 1 part-time staff member at the RHCYP.
The present vacancy is at the RIE, although the post holder may be required to work flexibly between the hospitals, covering periods of annual leave, sickness absence, training, etc.
The project delivers welfare rights and health-related advice to patients, visitors and staff members attending the acute sector in Edinburgh. Research has shown that resolving problems with benefits, debt, employment, housing, and family issues can have a positive effect on patient health. The service is also aimed at clients who have had a recent change in circumstances due to a health-related issue or diagnosis.
The Welfare Rights and Health Project Adviser should be experienced in giving advice, particularly in relation to benefits. They must have an understanding of the role within the healthcare environment and the impact of poverty on health.
The post holder will be required to assertively develop and maintain links with NHS staff, Social Work staff, other CAE specialists and external agencies.
The acute sector is a fast-paced, rapidly evolving, and challenging environment in which to work. Due to the project’s setting, the work can be both physically and emotionally demanding. Clients are frequently extremely unwell, presenting practical challenges to engagement, and advisers must move around the large hospital sites in order to meet with staff, patients and carers. In addition to possessing the necessary practical knowledge, candidates will therefore require energy and resilience to maintain the service’s success.
Haemophilia Scotland invites applications for the role of Advocacy Support Worker, a new and important position within our organisation.
This is a great opportunity for a compassionate and motivated individual to join our small but dedicated team, supporting members affected by the infected blood tragedy across Scotland.
In this role, you’ll provide person-centred advocacy and support to individuals and families as they navigate the Infected Blood Compensation Scheme and related processes. You’ll act as a trusted first point of contact, offering clear information, answering questions, and helping people understand the scheme and how it works. The role will also involve advocating on behalf of members where needed, engaging with the Infected Blood Compensation Authority and other organisations to help resolve issues and make sure our members’ voices are heard.
We’re looking for someone with significant experience in an advocacy, advice or support role, who can explain complex information clearly and with sensitivity. Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and the ability to support people in extremely difficult or emotional situations are essential. Experience of working with vulnerable individuals or people with long-term health conditions would also be an advantage.
As a small charity, our work is varied and rewarding, and this role offers the chance to make a real difference. You’ll need to be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, managing a varied workload, and contributing to the development of clear, accessible information for our members.
We’re committed to supporting the successful candidate with training and development, particularly around the Infected Blood Compensation Scheme, so you feel confident in supporting the people we work with.

Are you passionate about play, and ready to lead the practicalities of delivery?
We are seeking a Team Leader to coordinate and deliver high-quality, self-directed play opportunities across Midlothian. This is a hands-on leadership role, combining practical delivery with day-to-day coordination and line management of a small team.
About Play Midlothian
Play Midlothian is a registered charity (no. SC025474) working to enable every child in Midlothian to thrive through play by creating opportunities, removing barriers and addressing inequalities. About the Role
On appointment, the postholder will lead Out2Play, using the play rangers model of delivery to enable children to play out in greenspaces close to their homes.
The postholder will also staff other sessions run by Play Midlothian. We champion adventurous, self-directed play, with a focus on loose parts, and use varied community settings to create rich play opportunities. A high proportion of sessions take place outdoors, all year round.
