About You:

  • To join us, you need to have a genuine passion for helping people.
  • Ideally, possess 1 year of experience of working with vulnerable people and challenging behaviour which can be from personal, voluntary and/or professional experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment and ability to undertake care practice in accordance with Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) code of practice, National Care Standards, Scottish Commission for the Regulation of Care and the Associations policies and procedures.
  • Ability to relate empathetically to people and recognise their right to choice and independence.
  • Ability to work flexibly and as a lone worker.
  • Able to use Microsoft or equivalent applications competently.
  • Ideally, hold and SVQ level 2 or above and be willing to work towards an SVQ 3.

AROS (the Anti-Racism Observatory for Scotland) is a bold, community-rooted initiative dedicated to challenging systemic racism in government and the public sector and holding power to account. The postholder will identify, reach out to, and build relationships with adversely racialised communities, grassroots groups and organisations across Scotland. The role will also entail designing, planning and delivering programmes of community engagement activities, using co-production and other community development approaches. The postholder will assist with the recruitment of lived experience panel members and provide ongoing administrative support, including organising panel meetings, preparing materials and facilitating participation.

This role will involve travel across Scotland and entails out-of-hours working.

Hosted by the University of Strathclyde in partnership with the Coalition for Racial Equality and Rights (CRER) and funded by the Scottish Government, AROS is in a critical transition period, working towards full independence in December 2027.

As the Finance officer you will be an integral member of our team providing vital financial support to our CEO and Board of Trustees. Your accurate record-keeping and timely reporting will be critical to effectively managing our finances and Home-Start Clackmannanshire’s continued success. Your contribution to developing financial procedures and policies in partnership with our CEO and Board of Trustees will ensure that our financial operations are aligned with our values and objectives.

An overview of key tasks:

Financial management and accounting

  • Check, process and record all payments, administer invoices, process expense claims.
  • Initiate all online payments through our banking system.
  • File all relevant financial paperwork.
  • Follow up on overdue accounts as appropriate.
  • Process all financial transactions through Quickbooks including year end and accrued income/expenditure.
  • Maintain accurate records of payment receipts and the reconciling of purchasing cards.
  • Undertake accurate monthly reconciliation of bank statements and receipts through Quickbooks.
  • Produce monthly budgets report and cash flow statement.
  • Support CEO in ensuring that employee expenses and mileage are claimed in accordance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Process gift aid submissions and support CEO to acknowledge receipt of donations.
  • Produce reports as requested detailing spending attached to restricted funds.

Payroll and HR

  • Receive payroll reports from BrightHR, check to ensure accurate, and set up payment to cover salaries, HMRC payment and pensions.
  • Input salary information related to core and restricted costs into Quickbooks.
  • Prepare our pension payment via the NEST online system to ensure that pension contribution schedules are correct and timely.

Governance

  • Support our CEO and Board of Trustees by producing the necessary financial reports.

General

  • The Finance officer is responsible for reporting any problems or errors to the CEO in a timely manner.
  • The Finance officer is expected to participate in regular supervision, annual appraisal, staff training and development programmes.
  • The Finance officer is expected to adhere to Home-Start Clackmannanshire’s policies and procedures, particularly those relating to equality diversity and inclusion and health and safety at work.

Person specification

Essential

  • A relevant financial qualification (for example HNC accounting; AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting or equivalent) and proven experience in financial reporting.
  • Highly proficient and experienced in using Quickbooks and working with financial data.
  • Accuracy in reporting detailed financial information.
  • Advanced IT skills including the use of Microsoft Excel.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Confident to work independently to meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of financial policies and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Ability to learn new skills and keep up to date with changes in electronic systems.

You will be part of Scotland’s leading charity providing support to people with Chest, Heart and Stroke conditions and Long Covid to live life to the full again. Our Community Healthcare Support Services provide access to a range of supported self-management and community recovery services to support people across Scotland to manage their health as well as possible and adjust to life after a diagnosis of a chest or heart condition or after a stroke.

The Stroke Nurse plays a key role in supporting a seamless transition from hospital back into the community for people who have experienced a stroke and their families. The role focuses on helping individuals adjust to life after stroke by providing personalised information, advice and emotional support. A core part of the role is enabling people to develop confidence in self management, supporting them to build the skills and knowledge needed to manage their condition, maxinmise independence and improve their long term wellbeing.

The Stroke Nurse will also help deliver the evidence-based, six-week Chronic Disease Self-Management Programme, supporting people to build confidence and skills in managing their long-term health.

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual who is organised and motivated, with good communication skills. Candidates must have a first level general nursing qualification and have a minimum of 3 years’ post-registration experience in either a hospital or community setting. Experience working with people affected by stroke is essential.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Lead Practitioner, unlike other support roles, with Turning Point Scotland, no two days are the same!

You will be responsible for being the first point of contact carrying out initial assessments, building trusting relationships and ongoing keyworker support with communication an essential part of the role.

You will also be expected to work in a groupwork setting and/or provide Assertive Outreach to individual’s homes, GP practices and across multiple community settings in the North East of Edinburgh. You will be offering harm reduction advice and interventions to some of the most vulnerable and high-risk people who use drugs. These individuals may have had multiple non-fatal overdoses and are not currently engaged with treatment and or support services.

About You

You will have knowledge and experience of drug and alcohol related harm.

You will be passionate and committed and be creative in ways of engaging people, including home visits (alongside a colleague) offering support in the community. Making a difference to people’s lives, you will continue providing support until they are able to engage in more structured support within the hub.

The North East Recovery Hub offers a full range of drug and alcohol treatment and support services. We are a multi - disciplinary team comprising of Voluntary Sector, NHS and social work staff. We are based with our main office in Leith and working across our satellite location in Craigmillar.
