VOCAL – Voice of Carers Across Lothian is a carer-led organisation delivering a wide range of services to support unpaid carers in their caring role. We are seeking an experienced and motivated manager to lead and develop our Wee Breaks service across Edinburgh and Midlothian.
Working collaboratively with a broad range of stakeholders, the Wee Breaks Service Manager will oversee the strategic and operational delivery of VOCAL’s short breaks service. This new role is central to ensuring that unpaid carers in both local authority areas can access flexible, person-centred short breaks that support wellbeing and sustain caring relationships. The postholder will play a key role in delivering services in line with current statutory duties and preparing for future changes linked to the Care Reform (Scotland) Act 2025.

About Aberlour Guardianship Scotland
Guardianship Scotland is a specialist statutory service providing Independent Child Trafficking Guardians (ICTG) to all unaccompanied asylum seeking children, victims of trafficking and children vulnerable to trafficking who arrive in Scotland. We deliver this in partnership with Aberlour and Scottish Refugee Council on behalf of the Scottish Government.
The children and young people we help in Guardianship have been through unimaginable traumas. Now, they must cope with being apart from their families in a strange, new country. They face language and cultural barriers, and they enter complex systems which include the welfare, asylum and trafficking processes which are very complicated, and it can be difficult for them to understand.
We support young people to understand these processes, stand by the young peoples’ side throughout these processes, support them to access the help they need and advocate when needed to ensure their views are clearly listened to. Our guardians support the young people to make informed decisions about their future and to settle into a new life in Scotland.

What we are looking for....
We are looking to recruit a Guardian who will support our work in the Highlands and Moray. You will work from our Inverness office a minimum of two days per week with regular travel throughout Easter Ross and Moray and occasional travel elsewhere in Scotland. You will work 37.5 hours per week, these hours will be worked in line with the needs of the young people and service and may include evenings and weekends.
We are looking for candidates who have a relevant professional qualification at SCQF level 8 and has, or are prepared to work towards, Immigration Advisory Authority Level 2 Registration.
You will have experience of working with young people and children, dealing with child/adult protection issues, experience of advocacy work, as well as inter-agency and partnership working. Knowledge or experience of the asylum and National Referral Mechanism systems are desirable, though full training will be provided.

Role summary
Our training programme significantly improves the ability of domestic abuse professionals and other frontline responders and organisations to identify and respond to domestic abuse and closely linked issues. We take a holistic approach, looking at the whole family and the connections between them to keep families safe sooner, and offer a whole range of training products to develop people who support them, including accredited professional training and bespoke services for public, voluntary and commercial organisations.

We are looking for our Training Lead to oversee and develop our training offer in Scotland. Having delivered training across Scotland since 2012, we now run a wide range of training including on topics such as Understanding and Responding to Domestic Abuse, Dash risk assessment, and Marac Chairs and Reps as well as the accredited Idaa training on behalf of SafeLives.
We are a very well-respected provider of training across the country and work in partnerships to deliver much of our highest profile training, as well as with a pool of associate trainers who are experts in their field.
You will contribute to the development of training courses in response to emerging needs from specific commissioners, while actively monitoring sector developments to ensure our offerings remain relevant and impactful. You will deliver or resource our existing training courses.
You will work within the SafeLives Scotland Team to ensure that SafeLives’ training programmes meet our strategic priorities and are of the highest quality. Your remit will include course development and delivery with external partners and associate trainers. You will work closely with colleagues across SafeLives to ensure consistency and quality of our UK wide training offer.
