Working Rite seeks to stop the cycle of deprivation and poverty that occur in so many communities across Scotland. We do this through our award-winning, youth employability programme, which sees practical work skills coupled with personal development, strengthened through a mentored work placement with a small, local business of the young person’s choice. Our flexible, person-centred programmes of training, support and work placements put the young people at the heart of their future, helping those 15 – 25 years old who are furthest from the job market, to gain confidence, real skills and a foothold on the employability ladder. We have been operating as a charity since 2011 and in that time have supported over 3,500 young people into a positive destination. We currently operate programmes in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and East Ayrshire.

All this means it is a very exciting time to be joining Working Rite.

Project Coordinator Edinburgh (£29,500)

This exciting role delivering community-based schools model Choices model will support pupils S4 and beyond who are not engaging at school to look towards a positive future on leaving school. Using Working Rite’s 3 phase model approach (Choices, Chances and Connections) our Project Coordinators prepare young people for work and for adult life, match young people to work placements with local businesses and support them in their placements while they learn new skills and gain confidence. We also provide a mentor to support young people who progress into work. It’s a simple model that works with large numbers of young people who complete the Working Rite programme progressing to full time jobs or apprenticeships.

We require a Project Coordinator who can:

  • Self-start and work on own initiative
  • Work as part of a high functioning team
  • Engage and motivate disengaged young people in groups and 1:1
  • Build strong relationships with schools, families and other stakeholders
  • Work to targets
  • Offer new and creative ideas
  • Deliver accredited and certificated learning opportunities
  • Support young people with challenges and barriers to progression

You will be confident, have excellent communication skills and be well organised with experience in the delivery of similar programmes. Above all, you must be enthusiastic and want to support young people.

(This role is suitable for hybrid working in the Edinburgh area. We offer Flexible Working by default.)

Barnardo's are recruiting Residential Project Worker to be involved in the delivery of our Residential Service, Linksfield, to support children and young people in a therapeutic and trauma enhanced environment set within our Residential childcare setting.

They should be passionate about improving outcomes for young people who have been placed in our care and work within a child-centred therapeutic approach underpinned by Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy principals.

Job purpose

The Member Engagement Officer is responsible for increasing membership of the Network, encouraging member engagement with network activities and identifying and addressing individual member’s support needs through awareness raising activities, outreach and signposting.

The post holder is required to work with colleagues and partners to design and deliver suitable events and activities reflecting member needs and to develop new member benefits.

Introduction

The Development Officer’s role is to support the development of the social, economic and environmental aspirations for Unst and its residents. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in policy, public affairs, or a related field, along with strong stakeholder engagement skills.

As a part-time freelance role, responsibilities will be phased and prioritised over the course of the contract. The position is offered at 0.6 to 0.8 FTE, depending on the candidate’s availability.
