Current vacancies

Development & Support Worker

  • Full time
  • £24,900 – £26,000
  • Hybrid: Edinburgh
  • Closing 7th October 2024

As a charity and social enterprise, our vision is that everyone has a safe place to call home. We work to break the cycle of homelessness through innovative supported employment and housing solutions and give out around 165,000 items of free food year-round through our coffee shops and community networks. We work to end people’s isolation and exclusion by helping them to overcome barriers.

We are looking for a special someone to run our Social Impact Programme in Edinburgh and engage with people who have been affected by homelessness in volunteering and employment opportunities.

Our Social Impact Team is energetic and enthusiastic with a passion and commitment to improving the lives of people who are vulnerable. This is a job for someone who loves variety – every day brings something new. You will also be a food lover, as part of your job will involve preparation and delivery of Social Suppers.

You will come with experience of working to support and develop individuals with multiple/complex needs and a desire to join our collaborative movement to end homelessness. You will build positive relationships with volunteers and external partners.

You will enjoy taking your own initiative but also working as a part of the team. You might travel around our various locations. You will be resilient, always bringing a smile and a can-do attitude to your work.

Please note you will be required to work Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

We need you to be:

• A person who has good knowledge and experience of working with vulnerable adults and challenging situations

• A person who can quickly build strong relationships for developing effective internal relationships and partnerships with a range of charities

• Flexible with a willingness to learn

• Passionate about people with a drive to make a change

If this sounds like your perfect role, we would love to hear from you

  • Hybrid: Social Bite, 1 Leith Walk Edinburgh EH6 8LN. Flexibility with remote working.
  • Closing 7th October 2024

This role will play an active part in driving forward our exciting fundraising campaigns, events and community relationships. About Social Bite

Our vision is a society where no one should have to be homeless.

We are a charity and social business providing homes, jobs, food, and support to empower people to transform their own lives. We challenge the status quo by pioneering solutions that create lasting change.

We began as a small sandwich shop in Edinburgh in 2012, offering jobs and free food to people affected by homelessness. We’re now expanding our projects across the UK, on a collaborative mission – a movement to end homelessness.

We help people break the cycle of homelessness through innovative supported employment programmes (Jobs First) and housing solutions (Social Bite Villages) and give out over 165,000 items of free food year-round through our coffee shops and community networks.

We build lasting relationships, because we believe that through positive connections people can transform their lives. We use food, homes, and jobs as tools of engagement that can enable everyone to reach their potential. Our national and global campaigns have shifted the cultural dial on homelessness and our work has been championed by George Clooney, Leonardo DiCaprio, Sir Chris Hoy and the Princess of Wales. A number of our team have been homeless themselves.

Thank you for your interest in this role! We’d love you to apply.
