What you’ll do

  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with organisational goals, ensuring long-term sustainability and success.
  • Conduct regular reviews of HR policies and procedures, making recommendations for improvements.
  • Analyse HR metrics to assess program effectiveness and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Implement and execute effective retention strategies to attract and retain top talent within the organisation
  • Facilitate onboarding programs to integrate new employees, providing necessary resources for success from day one.
  • Foster a positive work environment through open communication and conflict resolution.
  • Manage performance, training, compliance, and benefits administration to support staff development and organizational compliance.

What we need

This is a newly created role in Pet Blood Bank UK; our ideal candidate will understand the critical importance of HR in driving organisational success and sustainability. You will possess a proven track record in developing and implementing HR strategies aligned with objectives and demonstrate strong analytical skills.

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • Proven track record in HR strategy development and implementation, ideally within the non-profit sector.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with senior management and across departments.
  • Previous experience in fostering positive employee relations, conflict resolution, and conducting employee engagement surveys.
  • Strong analytical abilities to review HR policies, assess metrics, and provide actionable insights.
  • Comprehensive understanding of performance management, training, compliance, and benefits administration.
  • Experience overseeing the full recruitment lifecycle to support attraction and retention.

What you’ll do

  • Working closely with the Marketing Manager, you will support the aims and objectives of the marketing department, as set out in the marketing strategy
  • As a custodian of our brand, you will ensure everything we do is in alignment with our brand identity and values
  • Contribute to the creation and delivery of marketing campaigns to raise awareness and grow the charity
  • Manage and proactively develop our social media platforms by creating engaging content and delivering excellent customer service
  • Create monthly communications for various distinct audiences
  • Maintain, update, and monitor our website and other digital platforms
  • Help manage, organise, and attend national events
  • Support the production of case studies, stories, and articles for use on various channels
  • Produce monthly KPI performance reports
  • Assist with managing the fundraising activities of the charity

What we need

We’re looking for someone creative who has a good understanding of digital marketing and the power of social media in helping to grow a brand. This is a varied role with the opportunity to get involved in many different aspects of marketing. Good organisational skills, excellent copywriting, and a strong attention to detail are essential.

This is an exciting opportunity to support the Managing Director in a wide and varied range of tasks, helping Pet Blood Bank continue its pioneering work across the UK.

What you’ll do

  • Assist the MD with a wide range of administrative tasks including HR, health and safety, and preparation and analysis of business reports.
  • Collate expenses and make travel and accommodation arrangements for the MD and other staff.
  • Carry out HR related activities and admin tasks using Pet Blood Bank’s HR system Breathe HR.
  • Ensure all charity documentation is up to date and securely filed in accordance with relevant legislation.
  • Assist with minute taking and supply minutes to meeting attendees, including Board meetings.
  • Other clerical and administrative duties as required.

What we need

We’re looking for someone with strong organisation skills and a real ‘can-do’ attitude who can manage their own time and workload without guidance. Flexibility is key to the role – the successful candidate will have scope to work with the MD to shape what works best for you both. Confidentiality is a must, you will be working with HR and payroll information, and discretion is important. You might have a background in office administration, some HR experience would be beneficial and an understanding of working in a small charity would be great too.

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • Excellent IT skills, particularly in MS Word and Excel
  • Good planning and organisation skills
  • Proven ability to create and interrogate business reports
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to anticipate the needs of others
  • Presentation skills and the confidence to deal with people at all levels, both within and outside of the organisation
  • Excellent team working skills
