Development Manager

The Development Manager role is a new full-time and permanent post created to build our fundraising function from the foundations that have been laid in recent months.

You’ll deliver the fundraising strategy to raise income across individual giving, trusts, corporates and statutory funders, with support from the Chief Executive and other key members of the staff team and board.

Mentoring support will also be provided by our fundraising consultant in the first 12 months of the post, to support any skills development and training requirements, and to ensure a smooth operational transition from the consultancy project.

Access to external training and professional development opportunities will be provided wherever possible, including an individual membership to the Chartered Institute of Fundraising.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a fundraiser to build and grow development function within a well-established organisation and with a unique package of professional development support.

Dance Base is now recruiting for a Head of Dance for Health and Wellbeing. This is an exciting opportunity to join Dance Base to lead on and develop a key area of the organisation’s strategy. This role is funded until 2026 as part of a new agreement with the Edinburgh Health and Social Care Partnership, and will work closely with their team to develop and deliver new projects.

As Scotland’s National Centre for Dance, we want to see people across Scotland engaging in dance as an art form, a way to exercise and a way of life. We support Scottish dance artists to develop successful careers and we develop opportunities for dance to be used in communities and in health and social care contexts to improve people’s wellbeing.

We are seeking a skilled and experienced individual to lead on Dance Base’s health and wellbeing programme. The role will build strategic and community partnerships in Edinburgh and across Scotland and the wider UK to design and deliver projects. The role will also ensure that dance artists across Edinburgh and Scotland are able to deliver activity that supports health and wellbeing in various contexts by supporting networking, exchange and professional development opportunities.

Dance Base is Scotland's National Centre for Dance, based in beautiful purpose built studios in Edinburgh's Grassmarket. We aim to get the whole of Scotland to experience dance and build national and international success for dance artists based here.

We're looking for an experienced and knowledgeable Head of Finance to join our senior management team to support good decision making and help to develop new systems for the organisation’s budgeting and finance processes.

As a part time position (20 hours per week) we are happy to discuss flexible arrangements to fit in with other commitments and open to candidates who would prefer to work from home across Scotland and beyond.

Dance Base Scotland is a Scottish Charity and Company Limited by Guarantee with a pre-COVID income of £1.3 million per annum. Good financial information and efficient execution of financial transactions are vital for the success and reputation of the organisation and the Head of Finance will be responsible for providing effective and compliant accounting processes.

During their first six months, the postholder will be expected to manage a transition of our finance and payroll systems from current desktop and paper-based systems (SAGE50cloud Accounts Professional) to a largely paperless system to drive improvements in efficiency and enhance our financial reporting.

The ideal candidate will have, or be working towards, a recognised accountancy qualification and have experience of setting up and managing online systems and processes. They will be pragmatic and solution-focused with the ability to build effective relationships and work in partnership with others.
