As Service Manager, you will be responsible for providing safe, secure, supported accommodation for homeless people within your service. You will manage and lead a team delivering quality housing support/accommodation and housing management service and to support people with multi-complex needs/homeless in crisis (and/or previously looked after or accommodated young people) to build their skills and confidence to sustain their own tenancy.

The positions will be an intensive Floating Support Role, based within the North Lanarkshire area and supporting service users referred by North Lanarkshire Council, Homes First Team who may be in other temporary accommodation or in their own tenancy where this intense support may prevent them from losing this accommodation.
The service users will come from the harder to engage group and be case managed by North Lanarkshire Council Homes First Team, whilst intensely supported by BTHA, Simon Community and Barnardos.

The position will be an intensive floating support role based within South Lanarkshire to specifically support service users released from court on bail in an identified temporary furnished flat within the local area. All referrals will come via South Lanarkshire Council.
You should be a highly motivated, enthusiastic and experienced support worker with the skills to be proactive and be able to use your own initiative. Ideally you will have an understanding and knowledge of the Criminal Justice system. You will provide support on a one to one basis with service users to meet varying aspects of their lives, including Accommodation management, Health, social & economical, meaningful activity and safety & security.
You will be responsible for managing support plans and will facilitate / attend regular multi agency review meetings to ensure all aspects of support are being provided. This is a great opportunity to further develop your skills and experience. The post follows a 3 week revolving rota incorporating five 7 hour shifts predominately 9-4pm, one 12-7pm a week and occasional weekend work.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Typical shift pattern is 07:15am – 15:15pm & 14:15pm - 22:15pm working 5 days over 7 including weekends.

An SVQ3 qualification in social care would be advantageous however not necessary. Other essentials include: experience of working with vulnerable people, addiction issues and challenging behaviour; effective written and verbal communication; knowledge of homelessness issues; and, above all, the determination to make a difference in the lives of our service users.
If successful, you will be required to register with the Scottish Social Services Council within 6 months of your start date. After registration, there is a requirement to be qualified and to maintain professional learning.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB Reporting to the Project Manager, you will provide a day-to-day support service to service users who live nearby in the community. You will provide a quality service compatible to the assessed needs of each individual.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. The Project Worker will be employed by the Association to assist the Project Manager in providing a quality service to residents within the Project.
2. To ensure that minimum standards of health, safety and hygiene are both established and maintained in all communal areas, both internal and external to building. This includes the monitoring of regular cleaning duties and maintenance of grounds and the cleaning of void flats.
3. To maintain appropriate recording procedures for all issues relating to the operation of the unit, includes financial transactions, incident reports, building repairs, etc.
4. To regularly consult with unit residents on possible developments and/or changes in service delivery and devise and operate systems and structures which both promote models of good practice and encourage resident comment.
5. To ensure all residents are aware of their rights and responsibilities in being accommodated at the unit.
6. To liase with any other professionals and agencies involved in provision of the support function to the residents.
7. To provide assistance with the residents’ general financial management, including the registering of all benefit applications both personal and housing related.
8. To undertake regular inspections of the building, facilitating the co-ordination of cyclical and remedial repairs. This may result in the undertaking of minor repairs and/or appropriate redecoration, together with giving access to and supervising the work of trade’s people as required.
9. To supervise residents’ behaviour’ as part of the process of maintaining the safety and security of the accommodation, and preventing damage to the property.
10. To actively participate in the staff supervision process, meeting regularly and on a planned basis with your own supervisor.
11. To actively participate in the Association’s Staff Appraisal system, including Agreement to undertake any identified training programme.
12. To ensure that the building security, this may include shifts at night-time, is effectively managed through personal observation, general awareness and routine checks.
13. To undertake any other duties as delegated by the Project Manager.
14. To participate in support meetings identifying appropriate move on options.
15. To provide key-work and ensure that individual support plans are constructed and implemented as part of the key-work process.

17. Provide general advocacy and advice service to the residents, including assistance to enable them to meet the conditions of their occupancy agreements.
