Based at the Craighalbert Centre in Cumbernauld, we provide educational and therapy services for children and young people throughout Scotland affected by cerebral palsy and related conditions, which result in disorders of movement and communication.
The Craighalbert Centre (The Scottish Centre for Children with Motor Impairments) purpose is to work with families and partners to deliver integrated learning, therapy and care for children in Scotland, supporting the enablement of children affected by motor impairments to achieve their potential and fulfil their ambitions.

The primary objective of this position is to offer administrative assistance to the Centre Leadership Team (CLT), ensuring the successful execution of Children's Programmes and Centre services. Additionally, the role involves providing adaptable, efficient, and prompt administrative support to the entire staff, thereby playing a key role in the seamless operation of the Centre.
This position encompasses a diverse and expansive range of responsibilities within a dynamic setting, requiring the individual to effectively handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Proficiency in maintaining appropriate professional limits while providing discreet support is essential. Appreciating the significance of collaborative work while also possessing the capability to operate autonomously is also crucial.

The post holder will make a significant and sustained contribution towards the achievement of the organisation’s ambition of establishing itself as a Centre of Excellence across Scotland in the provision of integrated learning, care and therapy for children and young people with motor impairments.
We have an exciting and rare opportunity within our HR function, following the current postholder moving on to a promoted post. Reporting to the Head of Corporate Services and supporting the Chief Executive and Centre Leadership
Team, the HR & OD Advisor will play a critical role in supporting the SCCMI’s Human Resource and Organisational Development functions. You will work closely with management and employees to provide expert advice, guidance, and
support on various HR and OD matters, fostering a positive work culture, and driving employee engagement and development.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HR and OD professional to make a significant impact on our organisation's success. We are a small team and are looking for an experienced generalist HR professional who is comfortable working within a stand-alone role (with administrative support) and can support the Centre with a full range of HR services. The position requires a strong understanding of HR policies, procedures, and best practice, as well as a passion for promoting a dynamic and inclusive working environment.
Time Commitment: Attending 4 x Board Meetings per year. Attending 1 x General Meeting per year.
Meetings are held in person on a Thursday from 1:30pm – 3:00pm at Craighalbert Centre, 1 Craighalbert Way, Cumbernauld, G68 0LS, with remote attendance available where required. Approximately 4 hours per month Trustee business in support of the Centre
Terms of Office:Trustees are appointed for a 3-year term of office, with renewal for one further 3-year term to a maximum of 6-years. (Currently under review)
Salary:Unpaid (voluntary role)
Reasonable travel and subsistence expenses can be reimbursed.
Start Date: The appointee is expected to take up the post as soon as possible.

The Centre includes an independent school for children and young people with additional support needs, nursery services and inreach/ outreach learning and therapeutic services that support families and practitioners throughout Scotland. The children and young people attending the school and nursery experience complex health and learning needs. Families supported through inreach/ outreach services are affected by a broad range of disability impacting on motor function and learning. Our aim is simple; to support children, young people, and their families to attain and maintain the highest level of holistic well-being possible. Our ethos is to get it right for every child helping children and young people gain the knowledge, skills and attributes needed for life in the 21st century.
Trustee: Role Overview
Our trustees play a vital role in making sure that the SCCMI achieves its core purpose. They oversee the overall management and administration of the charity. They also ensure that the SCCMI has a clear strategy and that our work and goals are in line with our vision.
Just as importantly, they support and challenge the executive team to enable the SCCMI to grow and thrive, and through this, achieve our mission to enable all children/young people with motor learning difficulties throughout Scotland to develop their cognitive, psychomotor abilities, and life skills to improve the quality of their lives and achieve their maximum level of independence.
Board members have a collective responsibility. This means that trustees always act as a group and not as individuals.

Our aim is simple; to support children, young people, their families and the team around them so that children with profound disability attain and maintain the highest level of holistic wellbeing possible.
The Scottish Centre for Children with Motor Impairments (SCCMI) is a Scottish charity based in the Craighalbert Centre near Cumbernauld and provides services for families throughout Scotland. The Centre includes an independent school for children and young people with profound and multiple learning disabilities and is one of the Scottish Government’s seven Grant Aided Special Schools. We employ approximately 50 staff in the Centre and have an annual budget in the region of £2million. As Head of Corporate Services, you will be responsible for finance, business planning, contracting/ procurement, human resources management, estates, information management and administration functions. Established competence in all these areas will not be required on appointment however experience in budgetary management and human resource management or significant line management experience is essential. New appointees will have the opportunity design a programme for rapid personal development and/ or longer-term development to develop competences and capability. Knowledge of children’s services policy in Scotland and an awareness of governance within the independent or charitable sector is not necessary but would be beneficial.
A successful candidate who requires to relocate may be provided with financial assistance.

The children and young people attending the school and nursery experience complex health and learning needs. Families supported through inreach/ outreach services are affected by a broad range of disability impacting on motor function and learning. Our aim is simple, to support children, young people, and their families to attain and maintain the highest level of holistic wellbeing possible. Multidisciplinary teams around the child work collaboratively alongside parents maximising the benefit from Centre and community resources to give children and young people exceptional experiences to achieve ambitious outcomes. You will have an opportunity to work across the range of Centre services with children of all ages from prenursery through to 18 years. Our ethos is to get it right for every child helping children and young people gain the knowledge, skills and attributes needed for life in the 21st century.
