Southside Housing Association has an excellent opportunity for the right individual to join the Association’s Management Committee where you will assist in shaping the future for our tenants, other residents and stakeholders.

We are a long established, locally run organisation delivering high quality, affordable homes and a wide range of other services. We currently own and manage approximately 2300 homes for social rent across the south side of Glasgow. Our wholly owned subsidiary Southside Factoring and Related Services (SFARS) also manages 225 Mid-Market Rent homes, and currently provides a property factoring service to around 1000 homeowners and commercial enterprises.

We have a dedicated Management Committee who set the strategic direction and oversee the operation of our services. We are regulated by the Scottish Housing Regulator and are registered as a Scottish Charity.

We encourage diversity of experience on our board and are keen to hear from people with a range of backgrounds and experiences who share our vision and values, and want to make a difference. While we are keen to attract members from our local community, it is important to attract people who can be objective, accountable and demonstrate leadership and integrity while committing to the values of the Association in a governance capacity. All Committee Members will adhere to a Code of Conduct for Governing Body Members.

At this particular time we are interested to hear from any interested individuals with a broad range of skills, but particularly those with experience in one or more of the following areas:

Outdoor Activity and Well-being Officer (2 year post)

We have a fantastic opportunity for a 2 year position with one of Scotland’s longest established community controlled housing associations, within our Community Initiatives Team. Our Outdoor Activity and Well-being Officer role is funded through the National Lottery Community Fund for 2 years and will focus on increasing awareness, engagement and participation of the residents and community at two of our green spaces in Cardonald, through a sustainable programme of activities and events.

We have a well-established range of community programmes which are offered within our neighbourhoods. These range from supporting health and well-being, tackling poverty and supporting partner organisations to deliver their work. In addition we have developed our investment in communities through large scale green infrastructure at the Halfway Community Park and work is almost complete on a similar scale project at Queensland Court and Gardens. The Outdoor Activity and Well-being Officer will focus on these 2 areas to support and complement the range of community programmes we deliver.

The Director of Finance & Corporate Services will be responsible for the strategic management of our financial, corporate and IT functions, ensuring compliance with good governance practice and other financial, statutory and regulatory requirements. There are various strands to this role which make it more than just a Finance role. With oversight of our Corporate Services and IT Department you will have overall responsibility for our approach to corporate and governance matters working closely with the CEO and our Leadership team.

Our next steps in IT are exciting in Southside where, as a Leadership Team, we are keen to improve our services both internally and also to our customers – you will have a managerial role in this development. You will have overall responsibility for financial planning and performance, including internal and external audit, regulatory returns, our risk register and arrangements, financial plans, budgets and cash flows, policies and procedures.

Key outcomes:

  • Contribute effectively to leadership and strategic direction of the Association
  • Deliver complete strategic management and control of Finance and Corporate Services Departments

We provide specialist advice to hundreds of residents each month on welfare rights, benefits, debt and financial management. We also have a commercial subsidiary company, SFARS Ltd., that provides factoring and property management services to home owners and manages 200+ Mid-Market Rent (MMR) and privately rented

homes.

The Association is now recruiting a number of positions within our Mobile Facilities Team and also our Fixed Site Concierge Team.

This post will report to the Concierge Manager, and will help deliver a comprehensive Estates Management service to the Association’s residents and properties by carrying out a wide range of duties – gardening, common area cleaning,

maintenance, bulk removal, gritting etc.

Previous experience delivering an estate management service within Social Housing or similar is essential.

The post works Monday to Friday (8.00am to 4.00pm) but can vary over the summer and winter months.

We are seeking an experienced Team Leader to provide leadership to the team and facilitate the continuous development and improvement of the service. The successful applicant will bring a wide range of experience in service delivery and management.
