What the role is

The Education and Learning Support Officer will work on a day-to-day basis to support the implementation and development of our education and learning programmes or community and youth initiatives.

Fixed Term to 31 March 2024 (0.5 FTE, 17.5 hours per week)

What you’ll need to have

We are looking for enthusiastic and creative individuals with experience of providing administration support within a diverse team and/or organisation with experience of organising events, training and seminars.

You will have proven administration skills and excellent IT skills (including Microsoft word, excel etc.). Experience of resource coordination, time management and problem solving are essential elements of this role as is possessing excellent organisational skills. Having a general interest in environmental issues would be preferable.

What the role is

The Campaigns Support Assistant (Marine Litter) will support the development, administration, and delivery of our work on marine litter, including our activities for the Marine Litter Strategy, our Upstream Battle Campaign, and other campaigns, projects and activities as required.

Some travel may be required for this role.

What the role is

What the role is

Reporting to the Project Coordinator, the Project Officer will develop and deliver a programme of place-based cultural heritage activity as part of the Our Heritage, Our Future: Community, Climate and Heritage Action project.

This project will provide a multi-faceted, community-based approach within communities and across heritage sites throughout Scotland, with the core aims of:

  • taking action to conserve and enhance historic monuments,
  • engaging with communities to bring heritage to life,
  • raising awareness of the importance of conserving heritage, and the benefits heritage can provide for individuals,
  • using heritage as a means to enhance a shared sense of place and purpose, and
  • creating a lasting legacy of ownership and ongoing heritage conservation

What you’ll need to have

We are looking for someone with fluency in written and spoken Gaelic with a good working knowledge of supporting and implementing large-scale youth-focused projects and initiatives.

What the role is

As our Web Development Officer, you will join a small and busy ICT Team that sits within our wider Corporate Services function. You will play a key role in the ongoing development of our website and intranet as well as helping to implement fresh ideas and innovative solutions to improve their functionality, user experience and internal reporting requirements.

Working closely with the Systems Development Officer and our Communications and Marketing team you’ll use your web development creativity and innovation to find solutions to support our operational teams across our wide range of activities and programmes. Also, within this role you will provide general IT support for our in-house users and systems to ensure the smooth running of our systems.

What you’ll need to have

We are looking for an individual who has a flair for web development, excellent attention to detail and the ability to write clean and efficient HTML 5 markup.

You will be highly organised and motivated with an enthusiasm for web development and coding. Having an understanding and/or experience of maintaining and supporting Moodle training platforms or other training platforms would be advantageous. We have an ambition to create a Scotland that is litter free and has a circular economy, to build a carbon literate Scotland and help in the just transition to a Net Zero Nation.

This is an exciting new, pilot initiative; Cup Movement ® in the Highlands, that will implement a reusable cup scheme in the large-scale, remote, rural setting of the Highlands, focused on the iconic North Coast 500.

Piloting an effective, high-profile scheme across the Highlands will not only support efficiency and scalability but also help normalise and mainstream reuse on a large scale, building a critical mass to help drive uptake among both businesses and consumers.

By collaborating with North Coast 500 (NC500), we can ensure that our model is co-designed with local businesses, to serve not only local communities, but also the significant tourist population in the Highlands, thus providing a complete solution for the region.

This project is funded by Hubbub and Starbuck’s Bring it Back Fund.

What you’ll need to have

We are looking for someone with passion, knowledge, and experience to help people and organisations across Scotland take positive action to reduce their impact on the environment and to move away from reliance on single use products and items. You will have experience of developing and implementing complex environmental campaigns as well as a good understanding of climate change, circular economy and pollution issues. You will be an experienced collaborator and have experience of working with regional and national networks and partners. You will be comfortable managing a range of projects and budgets.

Ideally, you will have some experience or knowledge of the Highlands area of Scotland as well as working in and with communities. Other desirable aspects include communications and PR experience, understanding of evaluation and monitoring techniques as well experience of working with volunteers and supporters.

What you’ll need to have

We are looking for someone with passion, knowledge, and experience to help people and organisations across Scotland understand more about climate change and wider environmental challenges and help them take positive action to reduce their impact on the environment and respond to the business opportunities this provides. You will have experience and a flair for organising, preparing and delivering training to a range of sectors and audiences on environment and climate change subjects. In addition, we are looking for a good knowledge of Scottish environment, climate change, circular economy, litter and waste policies and programmes and strong training and learning facilitation skills along with experience of presenting complex information clearly to a range of audiences.

Ideally, you will be carbon literate, have experience of environmental auditing and carbon footprinting as well as an understanding of ISO14001 and ISO14064. Keep Scotland Beautiful are a charity based in Stirling, Scotland. We aim to change behaviour to improve the quality of people’s lives, their wellbeing and the places that they care for. Working closely with the Head of Corporate Services this role that would suit someone that enjoys variety, working with people and has strong organizational and communication skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. To ensure the effective provision of personnel administration to support the employee and volunteer lifecycle.

2. To be responsible for all aspects of compliance with, and application to, the Protection of Vulnerable Groups scheme for KSB employees and volunteers.

3. To support the recruitment and retention of the charity’s employees and volunteers, in particular through regularly reviewing the Employee and Volunteer Handbooks and associated recruitment processes.

4. To assist the Head of Corporate Services in the implementation of the employee handbook and associated policies, including reviewing and updating policies where necessary.

5. To implement and develop systems to improve internal communications, including staff surveys.

6. To assist the Head of Corporate Services in the implementation of organisational development projects as and when required.

7. To ensure the effective provision of corporate administration services, including reviewing and developing processes and procedures.

8. To assist the Head of Corporate Services in the implementation of duties relating to facilities and office management.

9. Foster effective internal relationships to enable two-way information/intelligence sharing regarding potential areas for development, gaps in service provision and ways to improve quality

The Partnership

The Highland Community Waste Partnership (HCWP) is a new three-year programme funded by The National Lottery Community Fund, and coordinated by Keep Scotland Beautiful, which will be implemented in collaboration with eight partner community groups across the Highlands.

The project will seek to build collaboration across the eight partner community groups and beyond, aiming to reduce consumption and waste across the Highlands, and establishing a movement focused on more sustainable consumption, consistent with a Net Zero future.

What the role is

It is an exciting time to be joining our team seeking to tackle the challenges of litter and littering behaviour, with the Scottish Government recently consulting on proposals for a new national litter and flytipping strategy. Keep Scotland Beautiful is at the forefront of efforts nationally and locally to tackle these challenges.

Clean Up Scotland is our national campaign to tackle litter. This involves everything from working with councils and corporate partners to design behaviour change interventions to supporting local people to gather data and evidence, organise litter picks or develop local campaigns.

This role will lead and facilitate the implementation and delivery of our Clean Up Scotland Campaign and associated activities. What you’ll need to have

We are looking for someone with an understanding of environmental issues and policy (in particular around litter, plastics pollution, circular economy and/or climate change) who can create successful behaviour change interventions and large-scale campaigns/initiatives from inception to delivery.

You will have experience of coordinating and supporting campaign supporters/volunteers along with the ability to create and maintain positive working partnerships. What the role is

As our Project Officer you will facilitate and support the development and delivery of the Highland Community Waste Partnership, leading on a number of specific projects and activities, including the development and delivery of a Youth Climate Hero Programme, addressing single-use items, such as a Highland-wide cup recycling programme, reusable cup scheme pilots and a business charter. You will also contribute to the overall programme via the Delivery Group, comprising representatives from the eight partner community groups. This will include project development and management, the design and implementation of interventions, managing relationships with key stakeholders, undertaking monitoring and evaluation, and communications.

What you’ll need to have

We are looking for someone with an understanding of current environmental issues (in particular litter, plastics pollution, circular economy and/or climate change). In addition, we need you to have a good working knowledge of developing, organising and delivering large-scale projects, campaigns and/or initiatives including their budgetary and financial management.

You will have experience monitoring, evaluating and reporting on project outcomes and the ability to create, maintain and enhance working partnerships.

What the role is

Upstream Battle ® is our award winning campaign that focuses on changing littering behaviour to prevent marine litter at source along two rivers, the River Clyde and River Tay. This role will develop and implement the education programmes as part of the Clyde campaign which includes a professional learning programme which supports teachers to use source to sea litter as a context to nurture STEM skills. Other strands include a primary school art competition, an engineering challenge and a media skills challenge.

You will work within our Education and Learning Team and work closely with our Campaigns Team to support the wider campaign. This post will also provide support to learning establishments to engage with other Education and Learning team projects and where appropriate wider Keep Scotland Beautiful projects.

What you’ll need to have

We are looking for someone with the knowledge and experience of delivering professional learning programmes for educators on climate change and environment subjects through innovative or enhanced practice. You will have an understanding of education policy and practice (including Curriculum for Excellence and Learning for Sustainability) and experience of working with schools and local authority education or children services.

In addition, we are looking for you to have experience of developing networks and positive working relationships and demonstrable experience of managing and developing sustainable development education initiatives. We are looking for someone with the knowledge and experience to help people and organisations across Scotland understand more about the climate emergency and help them take action to combat climate change and other environmental problems. You will have experience and a flair for organising, preparing and delivering training to a range of sectors and audiences on environment and climate change subjects. In addition, we are looking for a good knowledge of Scottish environment, climate change, circular economy, litter and waste policies and programmes and strong training and learning facilitation skills along with experience of presenting complex information clearly to a range of audiences.

Keep Scotland Beautiful will support local communities, particularly reaching new audiences, to plan, promote and deliver local climate festivals that will appeal to their community, drawing significantly on local enthusiasts and experts to run events. We will work with a wide range of national agencies who will support the festival by using their staff and volunteer network to run local festival events in their areas of expertise as well as to promote the festival and its key messages. In additional, we will create a national festival presence online to provide information on local events and profile content and stories in the media.

What you’ll need to have

We are looking for an individual who has a flair for project management especially in developing, organising and implementing large-scale projects, campaigns and/or initiatives. You will have project budget experience, a good understanding and awareness of climate change policy and science within Scotland, UK and internationally and a proven track record of supporting communities on climate action and sustainable development.

You will be working with a range of regional/national networks and partners therefore having the ability to create, maintain and enhance working partnerships is essential for this role. Our Community Climate Officer will support a diverse range of communities to understand the climate emergency, envision a low carbon future and develop and deliver plans to reduce their carbon emissions and foster a more sustainable community. This role will also provide capacity building support and climate emergency training as part of our wider portfolio of community and training programmes.

Building on successful pilots in Kirriemuir and Tayvallich and working across our wide network of community groups and organisations, we will support seven communities to produce a tailored community climate action plan. The post holder will monitor the progress of the two existing communities in the implementation of their plans so that we can learn from their experiences and feedback learning into the process for new groups. We will work with other partners working on place-based approaches and in particular explore links with the Improvement Service and Architecture and Design Scotland. In addition, the post holder will help develop, promote and deliver our community-facing Climate Emergency training across Scotland.

What the role is

Our Campaigns Support Officer will play a key role in supporting the development, administration, and delivery of a range of our campaigns, in particular Clean Up Scotland, Upstream Battle and Treasure Your River. This is a varied and interesting role that will see you assisting with activities such as engagement with community groups and stakeholders, campaign specific communications and marketing, event organisation, campaign monitoring and data management.

What you’ll need to have

We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative individual with an understanding and/or experience of campaign development and delivery who has the ability to develop positive working relationships and influence people.

You will have experience of managing a complex workload and an understanding and/or experience of a range of communication activities including social media techniques and applications. An understanding and/or experience of administration processes and procedures is also an essential element of this role as is experience of data management.
