Would you like to play a leading role in supporting Disabled people to achieve greater choice, control, and independence?

Join LCiL and be part of a team that is empowering Disabled people and helping to shape inclusive communities across Edinburgh and the Lothians.

We are currently recruiting a part-time Team Leader role for our Independent Living Service (ILS) to join our dedicated and supportive team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated leader to oversee vital service that provides advice, information and practical support on Self-Directed Support, direct payments, personal assistance, and independent living.

At LCiL, we are a user-led organisation committed to supporting Disabled people, individuals with long-term conditions, and carers to live independently. Everything we do is grounded in human rights, inclusion, and collaboration—placing people at the heart of our work.

This is a rewarding opportunity to lead the coordination, delivery, continuous improvement, and development of LCiL's Independent Living Service. The service supports Disabled people, carers, and families to make informed choices about their support arrangements and to understand and exercise their rights under Self-Directed Support legislation.

We are seeking candidates with strong leadership and people management skills, together with experience of managing or delivering advice, information, or support services. You will be an excellent communicator, able to build positive partnerships and support collaborative working across a range of organisations and communities. The role requires someone who can balance strategic thinking with day-to-day operational leadership while managing competing priorities effectively.

Knowledge or experience of Self-Directed Support, direct payments, personal assistant employment, independent living, health and social care systems, or the Social Model of Disability would be particularly advantageous.

You will lead and support a team delivering a range of services, including:

  • Self-Directed Support advice and information
  • Independent Living support
  • Personal Assistant recruitment support
  • Employer support and guidance
  • Support in the Right Direction activities delivered in partnership with VOCAL
  • Independent Living Fund and privately funded support pathways

As Team Leader, you will oversee day-to-day service delivery, monitor performance and outcomes, support staff development, and ensure services remain accessible, person-led, rights-based, and outcome-focused. You will also drive service improvement, build strong partnerships, support co-production, and oversee monitoring and reporting to demonstrate impact and continuous improvement

This role combines operational leadership with service development and offers the opportunity to contribute to the wider strategic direction of LCiL and the Independent Living movement.

Following initial training in our Edinburgh office, you will work flexibly across office, outreach and community settings.

We offer a supportive and flexible working environment, including:

  • Flexible and hybrid working patterns
  • 25 days annual leave + 10 public holidays (pro rata)
