We provide a range of dynamic resources for social change makers and entrepreneurial leaders.  Since opening our centre in 2007, we’ve established a solid business based on hospitality, pioneered ‘coworking’ and ‘business incubation’ methodologies, and developed significant social impact.

Business Development Manager

JOB PURPOSE:

The Melting Pot, Scotland’s Centre for Social Innovation, is looking for a Business Development Manager. This role is for someone with proven business development experience, with strong interpersonal skills, who has a genuine commitment to and passion for creating positive social impact.

  • Contribute as part of a growing team to achieve The Melting Pot’s business strategy.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and nurture partnerships with key stakeholders, potential partners, and businesses to advance our strategic objectives.
  • Identify and apply for funding opportunities.
  • Achieve targets for our sustainable revenue streams (Consultancy, Membership, Good Ideas).
  • Outreach, increase the visibility of The Melting Pot through attendance at events and conferences, attracting new partners and showcasing our work.
  • Work closely with the CEO and The Melting Pot team to align business development strategies with our strategic objectives.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • A proven track record in business development (preferably in the social innovation or non-profit space).
  • Demonstrated ability in partnership development, fundraising, and revenue generation.
  • Negotiation and relationship building, strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain partnerships with a diverse network of stakeholders.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for networking, presenting and compiling proposals.

Sales Administrator

This role is for an energetic, customer focused person, who has excellent admin and communication skills. This is an interim, hybrid role and is part-time: 20-25hrs per week during our opening hours Mon to Fri. We are a flexible working employer.

Community Host

JOB PURPOSE:

We are looking for someone to join our team in a pre-existing role, to:

• Assist the Collaborate team in delivering excellent customer service to our coworking, venue hire and virtual office clients.

• Set up and servicing venue hire bookings as required.

• Engage with members to foster the community.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Hosting our coworking space; Welcoming members and other clients into the space, ensuring everyone is accurately registered. Maintaining cleanliness of the space and access to resources. Carry out regular duties professionally and efficiently as part of our Virtual Office Service. Answering phone and email enquiries.

• Hosting our venue hire service; Setting up the room and AV requirements as requested by clients, this requires being able to move furniture unassisted. Providing catering as ordered and on time, regularly cleaning the room and assisting with any enquiries. Adhering to the highest standards of health & safety, food hygiene and following The Melting Pot’s procedures in these areas.

• Opening and closing (securing and alarming) The Melting Pot venues, lone working is often required for this role.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

• Educated to a high school and/or college level

• Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and potential clients.

• Hospitality experience in a front of house/service role.

• Flexibility and reliability.

Community Engagement Host

We are looking for someone to join our tight knit, and friendly team in one of our hosting roles:

  • To be primarily responsible for the facilitation of our community building activities, including our event programme, our online communications and engagement with both members and the public
  • To utilise community building to attract new customers and increase our profitability
  • To deliver excellent service and client engagement across our Edinburgh venues, which meet our mission, retain and attract new business and engage people as advocates of our work

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Hosting our coworking space, including

• Welcoming all members, guests and other clients into the space

• Answering all queries and troubleshooting any issues

• Maintaining the cleanliness of the space and access to resources

• Engaging with members to foster community

Engaging members and the broader community

• Work with the team to plan, promote and deliver our TMPEvents programme each month in order to maximise member engagement and generate income from public attendance

• Generate ideas and create opportunities to attract new customers into the space and to engage with our services

• Deliver on a range of internal and external communications with Members via our online portal, dedicated Slack, social media and regular mailings

• Create digital content to deliver our internal and external communications

Hosting events at our two locations (Calton Rd and The Crags Centre), including:

• Setting up the room and AV requirements as requested by the client –– this requires being able to move items of furniture unassisted

• Liaising with the client on the day to ensure all requirements are met

• Servicing the event; providing catering as ordered and on time, regularly clearing the room and assisting with any queries

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Experience in front--facing customer service role

Experience in creating communications and digital media content for internal and external stakeholders

Ability to foster connections, generate community engagement and spot and action opportunities to create collaborations

Organised with proven administration and time management skills, ability to self--manage and work to deadlines
