Nicky requires support with all aspects of his care including personal care and household tasks, as well as support to maintain his health and wellbeing. He loves home cooked meals and especially likes spicy foods and curries, therefore having an interest in cooking would be an advantage.
Nicky has many interests and will give new things a try, even if it is just once. Some of his interests include horse riding, bowling, messy play and watching football matches on the TV. He also loves watching games shows, Disney, action packed movies and Glasgow based comedies including ‘Still Game’. Sadly, it’s not always possible for Nicky to enjoy what many people would consider these ‘simple pleasures’ without proper, dedicated support.

Let us introduce you to Ryan:
“People who know me would say I am a lively, likeable and intriguing young man. I enjoy engaging with my staff but it is important they take the time to get to know me and build my trust.
I have Autism Spectrum Disorder and a learning disability and require a lot of additional support with day to day living. My team support me with all aspects of living in my own home, including personal care, Positive Behaviour Support and working towards my own individual goals and outcomes. At times, I can become anxious and upset and I need my team to help me with this - my team are trained in PaMOVA in order to support me during these times.
Some of the things I enjoy doing include going for a walk, getting out for a drive in my van (which my staff drive for me), visiting parks and using the swings. I also enjoy playing games at home and particularly enjoy Lego and jigsaws.”
About You
I need the people who support me to:
I have a dedicated staff team and I am supported by five personal assistants and a team facilitator on each shift so, as with any team, you need to be a keen team player who can effectively communicate with others. You don't need experience but an understanding of Autism and experience of supporting people who have learning disabilities would be advantageous.
