The Third Sector Chief Officers Group (TSCOG) was formed in 2016 when a number of CEO’s of third sector organisations in South Lanarkshire came together under the auspices of VASLan to support each other during a period of significant strategic and financial challenge and change.
The group met fortnightly to play a significant role in providing peer support and sharing information to ensure joined up services during the Covid pandemic. The TSCOG are now ready to move onto the next stage of their development, with this shared resource providing additional capacity to deliver upon our strategic objectives.
This role is a shared resource for the TSCOG, hosted within VASLan with the workplan directed by a TSCOG Steering Group. The purpose of this role is to provide capacity within the TSCOG to deliver upon our 3 strategic objectives; strategic engagement, being collaborative, and income and strategic commissioning.
This role will improve links between South Lanarkshire’s Third Sector and a range of partners including Community Mental Health, Children’s Services and Whole Family Wellbeing Services in South Lanarkshire Council, our Community Planning Partners, and the Scottish Government. You will work with public sector colleagues to ensure that the third sector locally are integral to service design and delivery, and that the voices of children and young people, families, and the wider third sector is central to that process. This role will establish and facilitate a thematic network for third sector partners interested in supporting children, young people and whole family working, supporting partnership and collaboration at a local level.
We are looking for a Business Manager to join us. This role is new to the organisation which reflects our continued success as a TSI.
Your role will be part of the Senior Leadership Team, reporting directly to the CEO.
Your role will be varied with accountability for the strategic leadership, continuous improvement and performance of multi-departmental functions - Finance & Administration, HR & Staff Wellbeing, Marketing & Communications, IT and Contract Management. You will also lead, manage and provide direction to a team of direct reports.
There will be times that you or the Operations Manager will have the opportunity to deputise for the CEO at events, presentations, Trustee meetings or for general day to day activities.

We tell wonderful stories from across the sector in South Lanarkshire from various organisations that dedicate themselves to supporting the community. Improving the Cancer Journey (ICJ) is being introduced in South Lanarkshire, funded by Macmillan Cancer Support as part of the Lanarkshire wide Improving the Cancer Journey Programme which supports people’s non-clinical needs following a cancer diagnosis and is a partnership between NHSL, South Lanarkshire Health & Social Care Partnership, VASLan and Macmillan.
We are looking for four colleagues to join us in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support and the Health & Social Care Partnership to deliver this essential service.
The ICJ wellbeing practitioner is a key role within the service that will work with people affected by cancer, their loved ones, and carers to ensure their non-clinical support needs are met, engaging with the person diagnosed with cancer to discuss their support needs, and connecting them with community based supports that can meet those needs.

We are looking for a dedicated individual to be a shared resource for our Social Enterprise Network, facilitating peer support and sharing training and resources whilst building networking opportunities across the sector. You will support network members to collectively deliver enterprising local services, build social enterprise resilience, and build community strength and confidence around Social Enterprise. Engage with our young people, and take account of green issues through action on a climate lens.
This role will engage with, determine and better understand third-sector capacity and existing provisions across the employability pathway. You will undertake a gap analysis and establish local networks to improve the collaboration, quality and scope of employability services across third-sector organisations. You will then work with third-sector partners to co-produce an investment plan to see the third sector collectively and collaboratively contribute more actively to local employability priorities within our communities.
VASLan, South Lanarkshire’s Third Sector Interface are inviting applications for new and exciting roles to provide volunteer coordination on a partnership approach to community-based support around hospital discharge.
We are seeking to recruit two 28 hour ‘Volunteer Coordinator’ posts who can strengthen this partnership approach to hospital discharge. The Volunteer Coordinator will recruit, train, and support a team of volunteers for this new service. They will work with the NHS Discharge staff and key Third Sector organisations to enable volunteers to provide support, advice and signposting to people leaving hospital.
The coordinator will develop an understanding of need, local community provision and support the development of services that improve the lives of people leaving hospital. This will include the recruitment, interview, and induction of new volunteers to deliver varied support to patients due to be discharged from hospital. Support may include transport, house checks, food and prescription collection, wellbeing checks and referral to voluntary services for longer term support.
We are looking for people who are enthusiastic about the difference volunteers can make to services and patient experience. They will be confident with IT and remote working, dedicated to recruiting, training, and supporting high quality volunteers, have good communication and interpersonal skills, and will enjoy helping others to achieve their goals and make a difference.
Ideally candidates should have knowledge of a Third Sector Interface environment or experience of the local voluntary sector.
These posts will operate over a 7-day period (2 x 4-day shifts) with specialist training available to successful candidates.

About the Role
We are looking for a creative individual who can interpret a communications plan, deliver high-quality articles and publications that ensure that those we engage with are informed of the work of the Third Sector Interface and South Lanarkshire’s Third Sector.
You will be responsible for monitoring the content of the website, social media pages and other online platforms, ensuring information is accurate and cohesive.
Working with our staff team you will actively seek out positive stories to promote VASlan and the Third Sector with marketing being key to your role, helping our staff team promote events and activities.

What is Building and Celebrating Communities?
It is about improving people’s experience of health and social care. It is also about helping people living in their communities to live well, to know how to enhance their health and wellbeing and for communities to recognise their strengths, their dependencies and interdependencies.
The Building and Celebrating Communities (BCC) programme is based on the principles of Asset-based community development (ABCD). ABCD challenges the wider traditional approaches that try to solve urban and rural development challenges by focusing on the needs and deficiencies of individuals, and communities. ABCD demonstrates that people, local assets, and individual strengths are key to ensure sustainable community development, and that people have a life of their own choosing.
The overriding objective of BCC is to explore how we can generate more space for communities to create the things that matter to them - and how we can support these activities.
To drive this objective forward the BCC programme board are seeking to appoint a development coordinator, initially on an 18 month contract and hosted within South Lanarkshire’s Third Sector Interface (VASLan). The post holder will work across all four South Lanarkshire Localities with community groups, Third Sector organisations, the TSI, the Community Engagement Team, and wider stakeholders to build awareness and levels of community activity in support of the BCC capacity-building program.
This exciting opportunity will be the catalyst in the delivery of three key areas.
1. The identification of what it is that communities can and are doing best on their own. Not everything needs involvement from statutory agencies and this is not about reinventing the wheel or interfering. If anything, we want to celebrate what’s working – whilst being mindful many people want to help each other out without making a fuss.
2. Identify where communities require help. Sometimes this may require a very light touch, making a connection or offering minimal assistance to get an initiative, formal or otherwise, off the ground, like a sporting group or befriending network. Sometimes it may require a bit more assistance or involvement for a longer period of time.
3. Identify what communities need SLH&SCP and partner agencies to do for them, initially or on an ongoing basis - and take a leading role in making that happen.
