We are seeking to recruit an experienced Bookkeeper/Finance Officer to be responsible for the day to day banking, admin and financial record keeping of our charity. You will be experienced in producing monthly management accounts, reporting on Income & Expenditure and cash balance, and be confident assisting the CEO to prepare budgets and forecasts. You will have excellent interpersonal skills and enjoy working as part of a small, friendly and supportive team committed to improving the lives of people living with Bipolar disorder across Scotland.
You will support the CEO to present financial information to the Board of Trustees, external auditors, and funders when required. You will be confident using technology and financial management tools such as Xero.

We are seeking a driven and experienced Communications & Engagement Manager to oversee the full suite of comms, media, influence, and engagement functions of our member led charity. The ideal candidate will have significant experience of working as part of a successful and busy Communications team and have excellent management skills or relevant experience, preferably within the third sector. Partly funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, we are seeking an experienced Volunteer Co-ordinator to recruit, train and support Volunteers across different functions. This will include support group facilitators, and lived-experience peer volunteers, as well as working alongside senior colleagues to recruit fundraising and social media volunteers. The successful candidate will be a proactive, passionate individual with the drive and initiative to be part of a forward-looking organisation. The ideal candidate will have direct experience of recruiting and supporting Volunteers, including excellent record keeping skills and a strong commitment to compliance with due process for the protection of vulnerable groups. Knowledge or experience of working with mental health conditions is not essential but will be helpful in appreciating the context of our work.

We are seeking to recruit two exceptional Training Facilitators. You will be responsible for delivering self-management training and other courses and workshops across a range of settings. The purpose of this role is to increase understanding and awareness of bipolar as well as helping people identify, and put into place, strategies for living well with bipolar.
You will use your excellent interpersonal and presentation skills to inspire, motivate and empower people living with bipolar and their friends, family, colleagues and carers. You will be familiar with training methods and use this knowledge to actively engage participants and help them achieve their learning outcomes.
Confident using technology, you will deliver training courses online and in-person throughout Scotland. As well as being responsible for the seamless delivery of high-quality training, you will take a lead role in gathering feedback from training sessions and help to evaluate the courses we deliver.
You will work closely with colleagues and volunteers to ensure courses are, where possible, co-delivered with people with lived experience of bipolar.
Led by the Head of Development you will also contribute to the development of new training courses and workshops using your experience and knowledge.
Please note that this role will require travel throughout Scotland.

Bipolar Scotland is a truly inspiring charity, having spent almost 30 years striving to support those who live with bipolar. They do this by challenging stigma and discrimination whilst representing the views of people living with bipolar to politicians and health professionals. Bipolar Scotland hold a vision that everybody living with bipolar should be able to enjoy a good quality of life. This fantastic charity has extensive experience of minimising the impact of bipolar disorder through self-help groups and self-management training. In 2020, Bipolar Scotland introduced a Peer Support Initiative as another way of empowering people to improve their quality of life.
The organisation is peer led by those with lived experience, carers and supporters. The Board of Directors, elected by members at each AGM, is responsible for the governance of the organisation and directs the work of the staff team, which is responsible for the operational delivery. Currently, Bipolar Scotland has over 400 members who have helped to support in excess of 2,500 unique individuals. Through providing a safe place to people to share their experiences, thousands of people have been able to learn how to understand how bipolar affects them, how they can improve their lives and, most importantly, that they are not alone.
The new Fundraising Officer will play an integral part in maximising Bipolar Scotland’s income. The post holder will be involved in raising funds from community, corporate and other sources to further the work of Bipolar Scotland. The post holder will contribute the development and implementation of operation plans in support of the organisation’s strategic aims, to ensure income growth.
You will work closely with fundraising volunteers to help raise the profile of Bipolar Scotland across communities. Day to day you may be supporting with comms work, including social media, with a specific focus on providing fundraising stories or content, processing donations and gift aid claims. You may also be seen out and about in the community connecting with supporters or doing some research on community fundraising or trust and grants opportunities.
To be successful in this role, you will have a background in fundraising, whether this be in a voluntary or paid capacity. Due to this experience, you should have a good understanding of the Scottish fundraising landscape. You will be someone who thrives off connecting and speaking with supporters and members of the community. The ideal candidate will be confident in working towards fundraising targets and KPI’S. We are seeking to expand our team of exceptional Peer Workers as we look to relaunch our peer support service for individuals who are living with bipolar. This project will sit alongside our Beyond Diagnosis service for people who have a new diagnosis, helping to ensure people with bipolar feel supported no matter what stage they are at.
As a Peer Worker, you will use your lived experience to build positive and meaningful relationships that feel mutually empowering. You will work collaboratively with peers to hone existing ways of coping and explore moving towards a more positive future. You will listen with curiosity and promote hope and optimism, helping peers to realize their potential and achieve their goals and aspirations.
You will connect with peers on a 1-1 basis, over telephone or by video. Where you live within a similar geographical area, there may be the opportunity to meet together in-person.
