The post-holder will be responsible for the day-to-day management of our new place-based wellbeing programme. This is an end-to-end role which involves scoping and commissioning work, project management, building relationships, ensuring delivery, and learning about impact.

This is a rare senior policy and leadership role. The successful candidate will manage a team of three, and with the CEO and the other director will provide strategic leadership to Carnegie UK.
The successful candidate will likely be someone who has built a career in the field of public policy and social change. They will bring experience of designing and delivering policy programmes, as well as the ability to nurture and develop relationships with people, partners, and networks.

Our Senior Policy and Development Officers lead cross-cutting teams to deliver a mixture of policy, research, practice development and advocacy work.
These are mid-senior policy positions and would suit people who are keen to further develop their career in the field of public policy and social change, with prior experience of managing programmes of activity as well as engaging proactively with policy making and political processes. Their background might be in social research, economics, community development or the civil service.

The Head of Finance, Governance and Risk provides all accounting and financial management for the Trust. The post-holder has overall responsibility for Carnegie UK’s systems of financial control and supports the CEO on financial and investment strategy and planning. They also support the Finance Committee (comprised of Trustees and two co-opted members with investment expertise), the Audit and Risk Committee, and the wider Board of Trustees, and act as the first point of contact for the Investment Manager and the auditors.
The role includes responsibility for leading on the organisation’s approach to identifying, assessing and managing corporate risk, and for advising on formal and regulatory aspects of our governance. The Head of Finance, Governance and Risk is a key member of Carnegie UK’s Senior Management Team, reporting to the CEO. As such, the postholder will take an active role in forward planning and decision making within the organisation and will be expected to act as a role model for our values and ways of working.

The Post
We have a vacancy for someone who shares our values and our enthusiasm for wellbeing, to work on a range of research, policy, practice development and advocacy activities.
The successful candidate will work across several programmes delivering key activities and contributing to external partnerships with individuals and organisations from a variety of sectors and settings. There will be opportunities to work with a range of stakeholders, from politicians to practitioners, in programmes that achieve impact across the UK and Ireland.

Carnegie UK’s office is in Dunfermline (Andrew Carnegie House, Pittencrieff Street, Dunfermline, KY12 8AW). Staff have been working from home during Covid restrictions. The expectation is that for the future the organisation will move to a hybrid mix of office and home working.

The Role
To help us maximise our contribution to delivering positive change, we have created the new role of Head of Communications to lead the development and delivery of our communications strategy.
You’ll be supporting the development and implementation of our new brand, identifying opportunities for us to extend our reach and influence, working closely with our internal programme teams and external partners to develop inspiring communications strategies, supporting the development of a wide range of written and creative content, overseeing the management of key communications platforms, and contributing to our culture of continuous learning and improvement.
You’ll report directly to a member of senior management and work closely with colleagues throughout the organisation.
The role will normally be based in our office in Dunfermline, with some UK travel, but will be home-based and working remotely during the current COVID restrictions. We are currently reviewing are flexible and home-working policies and anticipate that these will continue to offer some flexibility to allow a balance between individual preferences and business needs.
