Delivery and Partnerships Our Senior Leadership Team (SLT) provides strategic leadership for TSDG. This role sits within that space providing senior leadership for all our thematic and sector support work across the region. This role reports to our Chief Executive and line manages thematic Lead Officers – Community Transport, Health and Wellbeing, Children, Young People and Families, Employability, and Community and Sector Support. It is peer-supported by the other members of the SLT: our Head of Resources and Development and our Head of Communications and Impact.

What You'll Do

We are looking for an experienced senior leader to join TSDG as it enters its next chapter. As Third Sector Interface for Dumfries and Galloway, we work with the sector, partners and communities to address key local priorities, build capacity and maximise investment in our region. Internally, you will lead our thematic and sector support teams, ensuring accountability for performance, delivery and impact on our communities. Externally, you will represent TSDG in key partnerships across Dumfries and Galloway, the south of Scotland and nationally, making sure the voice of the third sector is heard where decisions are made.

  • Provide senior leadership, direction and support for all TSDG thematic and sector support teams, working with Lead Officers to assure the CEO that our commitments to funders and partners will be met.
  • Further define, grow and embed Collective working and Place-based working across Dumfries and Galloway, maximising the impact of the sector and of our own teams.
  • Refine and oversee our Volunteering and Sector Training strategies, ensuring a cohesive offer to the sector across our thematic and sector support teams.
  • Work with Lead Officers to secure continuation and expansion funding as opportunities arise, including funding to re-start our Social Enterprise network (SEDG).
  • Oversee and assure plans that build capacity within third sector organisations across Dumfries and Galloway, ensuring the same level of support is received across the region.
  • Work with colleagues in Business Support and Communications and Impact to assure high-quality end of grant reporting, impact reporting and external publications in support of the sector.
  • Represent TSDG in key external partnerships, including the Community Planning Partners Senior Leadership Team and the Strategic Planning Group, and with partners such as Dumfries and Galloway Council, NHS and South of Scotland Enterprise, to ensure the best possible representation of the sector.
  • Provide strategic oversight of our Lead Officers’ and representatives’ participation in partnerships, ensuring they are trained and informed so that TSDG’s participation is active and impactful.
  • Contribute community involvement, insights and evidence to the Dumfries and Galloway Local Outcomes Improvement Plan (LOIP) and other regional plans and strategies.
  • Lead and support colleagues with empathy, accountability and integrity, line managing your direct reports effectively and managing delegated decisions and budgets.
  • Contribute thoughtfully to strategic discussions and decisions as part of the SLT, and support colleagues across TSDG to deliver our joint outcomes, in line with our values.

More about you

  • You will have at least five years’ experience of working at a senior leadership level, including at least two years in the third sector.
  • You will be able to show experience of contributing to strategic organisational development across multiple priorities in the third sector.
  • You will have experience of building effective external partnerships and relationships, and of planning and delivering effective collaboration, both internally and externally.
  • You will have experience of planning and delivering effective community or sector engagement.
  • You will have a good knowledge of, and commitment to, Dumfries and Galloway and the third sector within it.
  • You will have excellent written and oral communication skills, both one-to-one and in presentation mode, and be skilled in using Outlook, Teams and other Microsoft apps.
  • You will lead with empathy, accountability and integrity, and bring an inclusive, adaptable, action-biased and collegiate attitude.
  • You may have experience of building effective external partnerships and relationships with regional and national partners.
  • You may hold a valid driving licence and have access to a car with business insurance for work purposes.

Where the role fits in our organisation

Our Communications and Impact team leads on communications, media, engagement with the third sector and partners across Dumfries and Galloway, systems, data and insights, evaluation and impact, storytelling, regional and national sector promotion, and internal communications. This role reports to our Head of Communications and Impact and is peer-supported by the other members of the Communications and Impact team.

What You'll Do

We are looking for a colleague to lead our digital transformation, change management and innovation agenda, both within TSDG and across the wider third sector in Dumfries and Galloway. Internally, you will develop and deliver a digital roadmap for TSDG, championing effective use of our core platforms and building staff confidence and capability. Externally, you will strengthen digital inclusion in Dumfries and Galloway, lead our digital collaboration tool, and help other third sector organisations optimise their digital use and collaborate more effectively.

• Develop and lead delivery of a digital transformation roadmap for TSDG, covering systems, data, process improvement and digital capability.

• Deliver effective, joined-up use of internal digital platforms, reducing duplication, improving data flow between systems and strengthening reporting.

• Lead change management activity through communication and training, supporting staff to adopt new tools and ways of working.

• Identify and pilot digital approaches, including emerging AI tools, that could improve our efficiency or service delivery.

• Lead, develop and monitor our digital collaboration tool, including the digital collaboration of the Whole Family Support project alongside Borders and Midlothian TSIs.

• Work with third sector organisations across Dumfries and Galloway to deliver measurable improvements in the sector’s digital maturity, promoting shared digital tools and good practice and leading peer learning and knowledge-sharing.

• Lead TSDG’s participation in the TSI/DIA Local to National learning pilot, and develop and chair a Local Digital Steering Group to embed and evidence digital inclusion in local strategies and plans.

• Produce clear, accessible evidence and recommendations to inform partners, funders and decision-makers.

• Represent digital transformation interests in relevant local partnerships, strategy groups and funding conversations.

• Support colleagues across TSDG and contribute to effective team working, in line with our values.

This role plays a critical part in the planning and management of our organisational finances and resources, leading a small team within the Business Support team. It reports to our Head of Resources and Development and line manages a full-time Finance and Resources Officer and a part-time Business Support Coordinator. It sits within the Business Support team, which also includes our Fund Managers and Coordinators.

What You'll Do

Effective strategic and operational planning, performance and development are essential to the sustainability of our growing organisation. A significant element of this is how we plan and manage our finances and other resources, build organisational policy and process to enable the work we do for our sector, and develop our practices to build a great place to work. Our Resources and Development team provides the planning, oversight and development of our central organisational activity and practice, as well as managing the investments we make in our sector on behalf of funding partners.

As Finance and Resources Manager, you will take a leading role in our project and core budget development and reporting, financial oversight and assurance, financial forecasting and financial policy and processes. You will also support the planning and management of our people/staff related activity, working with our external HR Advisor and the Third Sector Dumfries and Galloway (TSDG) Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to coordinate the update and maintenance of our Staff Handbook and policies.

  • Lead the efficient and effective management of robust TSDG financial systems, ensuring sufficient processes are in place to provide the SLT with high levels of financial scrutiny and assurance.
  • Support the Chief Executive and SLT colleagues in developing, monitoring, re-forecasting and reporting on the core TSDG budget and project budgets.
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly management accounts, cashflow projections and financial reporting for the SLT, and provide oversight and assurance of the accurate recording and processing of all income and expenditure, in line with budget and financial delegations.
  • Oversee and assure automated payment approvals through online banking and regular bank reconciliation, and develop our Zoho-based finance system, with a view to bringing more services in-house.
  • Oversee monthly payroll and expenses processes, and support the Head of Resources and Development, Senior Leaders and others to build grant claims by providing accurate financial data of ring-fenced funds.
  • Lead on process and practice improvements to our financial management policies and systems, and on the development of our annual reports, working with our external advisors, accountants and auditor and assuring the first draft as presented to the SLT.
  • Oversee the coordination of staff recruitment and the continuous improvement of our induction programmes for new staff, including a new programme for leadership roles.
  • Work with our external HR Advisor and SLT to coordinate the update and maintenance of our people policies and electronic Staff Handbook, and oversee the effective use of our online employee HR system (SafeHR).
  • Provide leadership, direction and support for the Finance team, line managing your direct reports effectively and managing delegated decisions and budgets, and contribute thoughtfully to strategic discussions and decisions in line with our values.

More about you

  • You will have proven experience in small or medium-sized organisational finance management, with a strong understanding of accounting processes, internal controls and regulatory compliance, and of building operational and project budgets, monitoring and reporting.
  • You will have proven experience of working with and developing financial processing systems, including invoicing, payments and cashflow modelling.
  • You will have excellent time management skills, with the ability to work accurately to tight deadlines, prioritise your own workload and support the work of others, along with excellent attention to detail.
  • You will have good leadership skills, with proven experience of mentoring others so that they thrive and grow.
  • You will be skilled in using Outlook, Teams and other Microsoft apps, particularly Excel.
  • You will be self-motivated and able to take responsibility for personal outcomes, with a commitment to ongoing personal and organisational improvement, and an inclusive, adaptable, action-biased and collegiate attitude.
  • You will be able to be at the Dumfries or Stranraer office for agreed working hours (based on 9–5) consistently, three days a week.
  • You may have proven experience in charity finance management, with a strong understanding of charitable accounting, restricted funding and grant claims, including using financial processing systems to inform charity grant management.
