About Us
We Play Together SCIO is a community-driven organisation dedicated to
achieving sporting success, fostering social impact, and promoting financial sustainability. Operating a
thriving Centre and Basketball Club (est.1961), we strive to make a lasting difference in our community through
sport, primarily basketball, and meaningful initiatives.
The Role
We are seeking a visionary and driven Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to
lead We Play Together SCIO into its next phase of growth and development. The CEO will be responsible for
ensuring sporting success, delivering a robust Social Impact plan, growing financial reserves, and driving the
organisation’s strategic expansion. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced leader to make a
meaningful impact in a dynamic and community-focused environment.
What You’ll Do
1.Financial Leadership and Sustainability
- Develop and oversee annual budgets to grow financial reserves per
annum.
- Strategise revenue generation and cost
management to deliver surplus income.
2.Sporting and Social Impact
- Work closely with the Club Manager to support club growth and
sporting success.
- Define, implement, and report on
a measurable Social Impact plan to benefit the community.
3.Centre and Facilities Management
- Improve the condition and increase the usage of the
Centre.
- Lead an Expansion Sub-Group to secure
long-term access to a second Centre or facility.
4.Governance and Leadership
- Develop and coordinate Trustee Board governance and Sub-Group
activities.
- Lead and support the Club Manager and
Centre Manager to achieve key goals.
5.Stakeholder Engagement and Partnerships
- Build strong relationships with funding partners, sponsors,
schools, and community groups.
- Engage with
Trustees, Sub-Group participants, and other key stakeholders.
What We’re Looking For
Qualifications and Experience
- Proven senior leadership experience in a sports organisation,
charity, or social enterprise.
- Expertise in
financial planning, budget management, and delivering financial sustainability.
- Success in developing and implementing social impact
initiatives.
- Wide and deep understanding of
basketball in Scotland
- Experience in facilities
management and increasing community space usage.
- A
track record in securing funding, grants, or sponsorship.
- Familiarity with working alongside and reporting to a Trustee Board.
Skills and Knowledge
- Strong financial acumen and the ability to deliver surplus
income.
- Excellent leadership, people management,
and strategic planning skills.
- Project management
skills, particularly in facility expansion
- Understanding of the social impact sector and outcome management
- Demonstrable leadership skills in a basketball
environment
- Knowledge of governance and supporting
a Board of Trustees.
- Experience in revenue
generation strategies for community organisations.

What We Offer
- Hybrid Working for Flexibility: Full time working in and from the Crags Centre is available, though work from home 1-2 days a week, perhaps after an appropriate bedding in period, would also be a possibility.
- Competitive Compensation: A salary in the range of £45,000 - £55,000 per annum, reflecting your skills and experience.
- Balanced Hours with Flexibility: A standard 37.5 hour working week (9:00 am – 5:30 pm). While flexibility is required for occasional evening meetings, we’re open to discussing a 0.8 FTE arrangement for the right candidate.
