Glasgow Wood
Glasgow Wood

Charity registered in Scotland SC038772

As a charity and social enterprise, our mission is for a more healthy and sustainable population and planet. We improve the wellbeing of our community by providing valuable training and volunteer opportunities to locals as a solution for unemployment and social exclusion. Who knew the age old act of building with your hands could be so valuable? We improve the health of our planet by reusing and rehousing timber, preventing huge quantities of this valuable resource from being sent to landfill. From reclaimed timber, we build quality furniture and accessories alongside working on bespoke enquiries and much larger projects for home, businesses and social sector organisations.

Help Us Shape the Future of Glasgow Wood

Glasgow Wood is on a mission to strengthen our organisation, boost our trading income, and build a more sustainable future — and we’re looking for a skilled, creative woodworker to help make it happen.

About the Role

We face a clear challenge: seasonal dips in income during autumn and winter. Your job will be to help us turn that challenge into opportunity.

As our dedicated Product Development Woodworker, you will:

• Design and develop new products that appeal to customers during our quieter trading periods

• Work closely with our Volunteer Development Worker to involve a diverse range of volunteers

• Support volunteers to build confidence, skills, and hands‑on experience

• Collaborate with staff and volunteers to identify product ideas that strengthen our income year‑round

• Contribute to a more resilient, sustainable organisation

This is a two‑year role giving you the time and space to make a real impact.

Role Details

We are offering an annual salary of £21,850 for a 28-hour week. The role reports to the Managing Director and is based at our South Street Workshop.

Why Join Us?
