MECOPP (Minority Ethnic Carers of People Project) is Scotland's leading Black and Minority Ethnic carers' organisation. We work to reduce inequalities, improve access to culturally responsive services, and support some of the most marginalised communities across Scotland.

Thanks to funding from the Scottish Government's Gambling Levy, we have established our new Better Wellbeing Service, designed to address gambling harms, improve wellbeing, and strengthen support for Gypsy/Traveller individuals, families and communities.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Development Worker to join MECOPP’s Gypsy/Traveller Team and support our work to reduce gambling-related harms within Scotland’s Gypsy/Traveller community.

The postholder will work as part of MECOPP’s Gambling Harms Team, developing community-based support, awareness raising, and partnership activity to improve wellbeing, reduce health inequalities, and strengthen access to appropriate support.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong development skills, experience of community engagement, and a commitment to equality, inclusion, and improving outcomes for Gypsy/Traveller communities.

Help make a real difference to Gypsy/Traveller individuals and families by supporting them to increase their income, reduce financial pressure, and access the support they are entitled to.

The postholder will provide practical advice and casework support to help people maximise income, access benefits and grants, manage financial pressures, and navigate welfare and support systems.

Working as part of MECOPP’s Better Wellbeing Service, the role will include assessment, advocacy, support with applications, liaison with relevant agencies, and signposting to wider sources of help where needed.

We are keen to hear from someone with experience in welfare rights, benefits advice, income maximisation or related casework, and a strong commitment to equality, inclusion and improving outcomes for Gypsy/Traveller communities.

MECOPP is looking for a motivated Youth Worker to join our Gypsy/Traveller Team, supporting young Gypsy/Travellers across Scotland to build confidence, access opportunities, and have their voices heard.

The postholder will work with young people, families, communities, and partner organisations to develop youth-led activities, provide outreach and group support, and improve outcomes for Gypsy/Traveller young people.

We are keen to hear from someone who understands marginalised communities and is passionate about equality, inclusion, and supporting young people to shape services and opportunities that matter to them.
