NLDF (North Lanarkshire Disability Forum) is a user led charity operating within the heart of North Lanarkshire. We are passionate about supporting individuals and their carers living with long term condition and/or disabilities. Through our projects we offer information and advice on community supports, eligibility for disability benefits as well as form filling support, information on people’s rights and linking people into the right services.

We are part of the commissioned partnership to provide Administration of Engagement and Participation (Supported People) in North Lanarkshire, ensuring meaningful involvement to underrepresented groups.

As Financial Administrator you will be expected to monitor and coordinate the financial duties of our small but successful charity who has experienced exponential growth during recent years. Improving and overseeing the financial business of the charity. Supporting the line manager with monthly and ad hoc reporting. Inspecting financial information. As part of this exciting work, we have secured additional funds to offer a small grant fund, this will be a fund available annually for small organisations in NL, access to this will be via an application process, you will be instrumental in the finance and governance of this fund.

The Carer Breather fund is a funding initiative through NL Carers Together to support community and voluntary sector organisations in North Lanarkshire provide ongoing breaks and activities for unpaid carers.

North Lanarkshire Disability Forum (NLDF) successfully accessed this funding to allow us to engage with carers and those they care for, who are affected by disabilities and or long-term conditions.

NLDF are a member led organisation who support people living with a disability or long term condition in North Lanarkshire. We have been established since 1999 and have built up an excellent reputation in North Lanarkshire as a supportive service, who listen and strive to meet the needs of those we support.

Job description

Arranging and facilitating in person information and support sessions for unpaid carers, with the people they care for within our Carer Breather Project – The Little Care Hub (TLC)

The sessions will have three elements:-

  • Time and space to share their own experience, ideas and views;
  • Sharing information about available supports and services; Benefit maximisation, help with heating costs, Self Directed Support services including statutory budgets, community support.
  • Health and wellbeing activities eg nutrition, music, mindfulness techniques, simple yoga, breathing, feel good techniques to support on going self management of good health and resilience.

Participants will have the opportunity to contribute to the ongoing programme.

  • To provide quick feel-good strategies that can be used during and after sessions, linking into sessional supports with an emphasis on each activity being something new to help them in their caring role.
  • To offer ways to participate and engage in local community, keeping participants informed of local support.
  • Provide group in local accessible setting, clarify through consultation for best locations

Community Connector – Long term conditions

Our Improving lives Initiative is an established model of community connectors for people living with long term conditions. You will join a team of Community Connectors to deliver a person-centred community support service for adults living with long term conditions, disabilities.

The role offers practical help, empowerment and early intervention support. It also plays a key part in improving mental wellbeing, reducing isolation, supporting smooth discharges from hospital, and linking individuals to sustainable long term community supports.

Skills and qualities

  • Commitment to co production and amplifying lived experience in service design.
  • Ability to build trust and work collaboratively with individuals, families, and partner agencies.
  • Awareness of inclusive communication methods and accessibility needs.
  • Confidence in gathering feedback and contributing to continuous improvement across NLDF’s Independent Living Initiative.

We are part of the commissioned partnership to provide Administration of Engagement and Participation (Supported People) in North Lanarkshire, ensuring meaningful involvement including underrepresented groups. To support this core work we are now looking to add an Engagement & Participation Development officer to join our senior team.

This role will be based within NLDF, and supported by the Partnership, this includes Lanarkshire Links, who support mental health service users and carers and Voice Experience Forum, who champion and promote the voices of older people. Through this Partnership we look to develop an effective network to ensure no care groups are left behind and those who want to engage and participate in their health, care and community, can do so in a way that is meaningful to them.

We have secured additional funds to offer a community fund, this will be a fund available annually for organisations in NL, access to this will be via an application process. This is to support Engagement & Participation opportunities in NL, as Network Lead you will be expected to help develop, promote and facilitate application activity and associated support groups may need to apply.

About the role

Following a successful tender bid to Health and Care North Lanarkshire, NLDF, on behalf of the Partnership, are recruiting a senior position within the organisation. Reporting to the Development Manager as part of a management team approach, the E&P Network Development officer will

  • Develop and lead the delivery of key objectives as agreed by The Partnership in relation to supporting engagement and influence across North Lanarkshire and
  • Facilitation of the E&P Network.
  • Arrange and facilitate consultation and involvement requests from key partners.
  • Develop, promote and facilitate a community fund.
  • Have a key role in the operational delivery and development of the organisation’s key objectives through the Administration of Engagement & Participation (Supported people) commissioned by Health & Social Care North Lanarkshire, working closely with the Development Manager, the Partnership, our Board of Directors, and key partners.
  • To contribute to the development of NLDF.
