Helm support and inspire over 200 young people every year in the Dundee area and endeavour to ensure that every young person has the opportunity make the most of their life. For the past 30 years, this wonderful charity has worked inclusively with young people from the age of 15 upwards, empowering them to make their hopes and dreams a reality by building their skills, confidence, and experiences.
By giving young people a voice, daring them to dream, and having a positive impact on their future, HELM ensure that all their students have access to support with anything they need to guarantee they have the best possible chance to make the most of their time, including housing, health, relationships, emotional issues and specific learning support. HELM understands the barriers to learning and employment that young people face and strive to combat this by opening opportunities that otherwise would not have been available to them, such as a wide range of sports, cooking, digital and creative activities, combined with life skills and core skills support. With this support, an incredible 70% of HELM students move on to paid employment, apprenticeships, or college.
Having no experience or qualifications, a lack of confidence in their skills and abilities, learning support needs or caring responsibilities are some of the reasons a student will attend HELM and this charity works tirelessly to enable them to develop the increased skills and confidence they need to make positive and lasting life choices.
