Assistant Office Administrator

Helensburgh & Lomond Carers SCIO is looking for a highly motivated individual, with an understanding of carers’ issues, to fill this vacancy. You will support the manager and staff team in ensuring the smooth running of the charity.

The role will include providing administrative and reception support. This will involve handling telephone, mail, and direct contact with carers and visitors to Carers Centre; general administration - assisting with fundraising activities, event organisation, meetings, minute taking, and providing assistance to staff with any other appropriate duties.

You should be able to organise and prioritise your own workload and have good interpersonal/listening skills to allow you to communicate effectively.

The successful applicant will require to be registered as a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme, which will involve a Scotland Disclosure check.

Young Carer Assistant Support Worker

This is a newly created post which will provide an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual with an opportunity to join a dedicated team of young carer support workers committed to improving the lives of young carers.

Based at Lomond House in Helensburgh and operating throughout the Helensburgh and Lomond area, including rural villages, you will be making a difference to young carers and their families. The interesting and challenging work involves identifying young carers, working with them and their families, preparing and reviewing personal statements and organising events and activities.

You will work as part of a small team but must be able to prioritise your own workload and have good interpersonal skills. Empathy with young people, their issues and concerns, is essential.

The successful applicant will require to be registered as a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme, which will involve a Disclosure Scotland check.

Helensburgh & Lomond Carers is an independent Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation, governed by our own trustees, and we have been supporting unpaid carers for over 20 years. We offer a wide range of services to young and adult carers, living in our area, who provide help and support to a partner, child, relative, friend or neighbour, who could not manage without their help due to age, physical or mental illness, addiction, or disability. Our charitable purpose is to help carers manage and sustain their role in a way that does not have a negative impact on their own health and wellbeing.

You will work with the other members of our staff team (currently comprising 7 people) and be exposed to all aspects of our work, playing a critical role, in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our services, through the provision of information, administrative and clerical support, within the Carers Centre. You will have responsibilities in respect of the Charity’s website and social media platforms. You will become a central contact point for our carers, staff, volunteers and external partners, and have excellent communication skills and a flexible and professional approach to work.
