The charity has been in existence for over 230 years, and offer a variety of services in the community as well as education, transcription into alternative formats and residential care for adults and children. To achieve their mission they are looking for a Supporter Fundraiser who will proactively engage with supporters, community groups and volunteers in the community.
The Supporter Fundraiser will join Sight Scotland at an exciting stage, with a newly formed Cause and Engagement team, a new organisational strategy and direction, and a roadmap for fundraising planned. The charity is recruiting for 5 other fundraising roles alongside this role.
This role gets to see the full spectrum of what Sight Scotland’s amazing supporters do for the charity. You will spend time out and about meeting supporters across Scotland, understanding their fundraising goals and supporting them to achieve and surpass them. You will engage with community groups, speak at schools and workplaces, recruit and manage volunteers and support the delivery of fundraising events.
This role would suit someone who enjoys building relationships with people across a wide spectrum of age, background, disability, and motivation. You would need to be enthusiastic, proactive and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. A willingness to travel is a must as you will need to be out from behind a desk to build those all important relationships. There will be some evening and weekend work (for which TOIL is provided), so flexibility is key.

This role is an excellent starting point for fundraising as a career path, but some experience within charities would be useful for this role. This role could suit someone who has experience as a Fundraising Assistant and is looking to step into a role with more responsibility and supporter interaction, or perhaps someone who has worked in a different team within a charity but can demonstrate great relationship building skills.

The Fundraising Manager – Legacies and Individual Giving is responsible for developing and implementing plans to maximise income from individual donors and legacy gifts. This is achieved through innovative campaigns that grow our supporter base, drive donations, legacy pledges and gifts as well as strengthening our brand.
The post holder manages external agencies specialising in individual giving and legacies and leads on our donor communication and engagement programme. The role supports the organisation’s purpose to make a significant impact on the lives of people living with visual impairment in Scotland by maximising fundraising income to deliver brilliant services and create a positive impact on our ability to deliver for the long term.
This role would suit someone who is already operating at a senior fundraiser or manager level, with significant experience of individual giving especially as we see so much potential there. This role lines manages the Supporter Fundraiser (covering community and events) and the Fundraising and Engagement Administrator, so it is a great opportunity to broaden understanding and experience of leading other income streams.

The Fundraising Manager – Corporates and Philanthropy is responsible for developing and implementing plans to maximise income from corporate partners and individuals with the propensity to donate significant sums. There is huge scope to develop both income streams at Sight Scotland, as this is the first dedicated position covering these income streams.
The primairy focus initially will be on developing corporate partnership income, as there is huge potential for partnerships ranging from transactional right up to transformational. The role supports the organisation’s purpose to make a significant impact on the lives of people living with visual impairment in Scotland by maximising fundraising income to deliver brilliant services and create a positive impact on our ability to deliver for the long term.
This specialist manager role would suit someone who is already operating at a senior fundraiser level, or someone who can demonstrate experience of developing a corporate and/or major donor pipeline, creating operational plans and delivering income.
