A bit about the Scottish Legal Complaints Commission (SLCC)
The SLCC are an equal opportunities employer and we’re open on both professional and work experience. We want to build a diverse team, so would positively encourage applications from all candidates regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion, pregnancy or maternity.
Are you an experienced mediator looking for flexible, meaningful work that makes a tangible difference?
The Scottish Legal Complaints Commission (SLCC) is seeking skilled mediators to join our independent panel, helping to resolve disputes between legal practitioners and complainers at an early stage. Our mediation service is recognised as a leading example of best practice in Scotland, offering you the opportunity to work on varied and impactful cases.
How you can help us
As a panel mediator, you will independently facilitate mediations on behalf of the SLCC. These are typically early-stage disputes relating to legal services, where your expertise will help parties reach fair and constructive outcomes.
Mediations are allocated on a flexible, as-needed basis and offered by email. We are looking for panel members who can commit to taking on work regularly (typically at least once per month) to support service delivery.
The vast majority of mediations are conducted remotely, although there is potential for occasional in-person sessions across Scotland. Flexibility to travel when required is desirable.
You can find out more about mediation from Morag, one of our mediators, in a video on our website here.

You will:
While you will not be practising as a legal professional in this role, an understanding of legal processes would be advantageous.
