Our mission is to create a society where domestic abuse is eliminated. We offer practical and emotional assistance, secure refuge accommodation, and essential information to women, children, and young people. Additionally, we are dedicated to raising awareness about the widespread impact of domestic abuse in our communities. We work collaboratively with our network towards a shared vision of Scotland where domestic abuse is not tolerated.

Ross-shire, Skye and Lochalsh Women’s Aid is seeking passionate and dedicated Part-time and Full-time Support Workers to join our Women’s Support Team.

Are you committed to advocating for women's and children's rights? Do you have the skills, knowledge, and experience to support women affected by domestic abuse? Do you have a strong understanding of gender-based violence and women's inequalities? If so, this could be the opportunity for you.

As a Women’s Support Worker, you will provide outreach support to women and, where appropriate, their families. You will also play a key role in assisting women and families seeking safe refuge accommodation. This role requires a diverse skill set, the ability to work independently, and strong workload management. A firm commitment to women's equality and a feminist perspective on domestic abuse are essential. Strong communication skills and the ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships are also key.

Our service is expanding to better meet the needs of the growing number of women experiencing domestic abuse. If you have excellent communication skills and a passion for supporting recovery, we would love to hear from you.

The successful applicants will have at least SVQ Level III or equivalent level of qualification in health and social care or other relevant subject, or a willingness to work towards a qualification.

Are you passionate about women and children’s rights? Do you have the skills, knowledge and experience to work with children and young people experiencing domestic abuse?

The Children’s workers are responsible for providing day-to-day support for children in Ross-shire, Skye and Lochalsh Women’s Aid’s refuge and outreach programmes. This includes providing emotional support to individual children and young people including arranging and attending meetings with health, education, and social work. The children’s workers will work closely with Ross-shire, Skye and Lochalsh Women’s Aid and Outreach family workers to provide a comprehensive service across the local authority.

The role requires a range of experience and skills. You must be able to work independently and manage your own workload. You will be adaptable and flexible in your approach to work. You must have a strong commitment to equality and a feminist understanding of domestic abuse. You will have strong communication skills and will be able to develop and maintain positive working relationships with children and young people as well as third party agencies.

Organisation profile: Ross-shire, Skye and Lochalsh Women’s Aid offers support, information and temporary refuge accommodation for women and their children who have been physically, emotionally or sexually abused by a partner or former partner. We work closely with a range of statutory and voluntary sector organisations.
