Top job! Head of Communications and Marketing

  • Full time
  • £55,219 – £60,741
  • Hybrid: Glasgow
  • Closing 2nd November 2026

Are you an ambitious communications leader who wants your work to change lives? If the answer is yes, this could be the opportunity you have been waiting for. Bring your creativity, judgement and leadership to Right There and help make our impact impossible to ignore.

For over 200 years, Right There has helped prevent people becoming homeless and keep families together across Scotland. Last year alone, over 4,000 people received the support they needed to stay in their homes and close to the people they love. We have a proud history, an urgent mission and the ambition to reach even further. Now we need an exceptional communications leader to illuminate our work, strengthen trust in Right There and inspire the support that will make even greater impact possible.

This is a high-profile leadership opportunity at the heart of Right There. As a member of our Senior Management Team, you will influence organisational strategy, shape how Scotland understands our work and build the audiences, profile and support we need to achieve lasting change.

You will have the freedom and influence to strengthen our brand, bring our impact vividly to life and ensure that the voices and experiences of the people we support are heard with care and authenticity. This is an ambitious role with the scope to build understanding, challenge assumptions and use outstanding communications to help create lasting change.

Your role

Your first opportunity will be to bring our marketing, communications, PR, public affairs and digital activity together behind Our compelling vision. You will give Right There a clearer, stronger and more distinctive voice, while ensuring that everything we communicate remains rooted in the real experiences of the people we support.

Setting the direction. You will set the strategic direction for communications, public affairs and supporter engagement, building Right There’s profile, influence and connection with the people and communities we want to reach.

Joining up our activity. You will turn organisational priorities into clear, audience-led plans and deliver an integrated marketing and communications strategy with meaningful measures of awareness, engagement, influence and support.

Building our voice and influence. You will lead policy, press and public affairs activity so Right There is recognised as a credible voice and contributes meaningfully to debates affecting the people we support.

Connecting people to our work. You will shape internal communications, develop our website and content strategy, and make it easy for colleagues, supporters and communities to understand our priorities, programmes and impact.

Leading with care and confidence. You will develop a creative, high-performing team and set clear standards so communications are accessible and ethical.

What you bring

You will already be an accomplished leader in marketing, communications or PR, ideally within a charity or social-purpose organisation, and you will be ready to bring that experience to a mission with real urgency. You will combine strategic ambition with humanity: making thoughtful decisions, building respectful relationships and creating communications that honour the dignity, strengths and experiences of the people we support.

  • You have led integrated, multi-channel activity across digital, social media, PR, content and campaigns.
  • You can translate strategy into high-quality work that reaches audiences and delivers measurable results.
  • You bring strong editorial judgement and experience of shaping brands, messages and media relationships.
  • You use insight and analytics to improve performance and ensure communications are accessible, ethical and appropriate for sensitive subject matter.
  • You are a motivating and inclusive leader with compassion, curiosity and a genuine belief in the power of people’s stories.

Our offer

This is a full-time role working 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday. You will be based at 15 Dava Street in Glasgow, with a hybrid approach that combines around three office days each week with flexibility to work remotely. Our offer includes six weeks’ annual leave pro rata, rising to eight weeks after your first year, membership of the People’s Pension, a cycle-to-work scheme and the option to purchase or sell annual leave.

If you are ready to use the power of communications to build understanding, challenge assumptions and help create lasting change across Scotland, we want to hear from you.

We are recruiting for a Family Support Worker to join our new Highland Intensive Family Support programme.

This role is about working alongside young people aged 12 to 18 who are at risk of criminal exploitation, or at risk of being accommodated away from their families. Over a focused 12-week period, you will provide practical and emotional support that builds on family strengths, reduces the need for statutory support and helps young people stay safe and connected.

Right There has spent 200 years standing alongside people in Scotland. Last year, we supported almost 4,000 people to stay in their homes and stay connected to the people they love. Now, as part of our new Highland-wide Intensive Family Support Service, we are looking for an Intensive Family Support Worker who can help young people and families feel safer, stronger and more supported.

Your role

As Family Support Worker, you will build trusted relationships with young people, parents, carers, extended family members and the wider support network around them. • Work closely with Social Work, Police, Education and other partners to provide joined-up, wraparound support.

  • Carry out whole-family assessments that focus on strengths, needs, risks and progress towards agreed outcomes.
  • Support young people and families with areas such as wellbeing, education, safety planning, substance use and family relationships.
  • Advocate for young people and families, making sure their voices are heard in planning and decision-making.
  • Maintain accurate case files and contribute to multi-agency meetings and service development.

What you bring

You may already have experience in family support, youth work, social care, education, community services or another role where you have supported children, young people and families through difficult times. What matters most is that you can build relationships, stay calm when circumstances are complex and work in a way that is respectful, practical and hopeful.

  • Experience of working with children, young people and families facing challenges, including those on the edges of care.
  • A genuine passion for improving the lives of young people and helping families stay together where it is safe to do so.
  • Knowledge of issues affecting children, young people and families, including trauma, poverty and family breakdown.
  • Understanding of relevant approaches and policy areas such as GIRFEC, UNCRC, The Promise and SSSC Codes of Practice.
  • The ability to prioritise, keep accurate records and produce clear reports when required.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office and digital systems.
  • The ability to travel across the agreed geographical area, with a full valid driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.

You will be qualified, or willing to work towards a relevant professional qualification, such as SVQ 2 Social Services and Healthcare for Children and Young People, HNC or above. If this role excites you but you do not meet every point, we still encourage you to apply.
