Our Services

We are looking to recruit employees for our Edinburgh Services located in Edinburgh: Oxgangs, St Johns Hill and Lauristion In Leith.

Our services provide twenty four hour per day, seven days per week supported accommodation to individuals who are homeless and have complex and multiple support needs. These individuals may have experienced trauma, exclusion and stigma in their lives.

The Role

As a Support Worker, you will:

  • Have a person centred and trauma informed approach
  • Be skilled at building trusting relationships
  • Have a compassionate and non-judgemental approach
  • Be the first point of contact for people when they are looking for support as our services are staffed twenty four hours a day, seven days a week
  • Be required to contact external agencies and advocate on someone's behalf
  • Support individuals to attend appointments, provide emotional support or respond to health emergencies

You Will

  • Have a positive, flexible attitude and be committed to our values and the work we do
  • Have good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Be confident and assertive in your approach as these posts will involve some level of lone working
  • Be provided with all relevant training to succeed in the role
  • Possess an SVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care, or have the willingness to undertake study to achieve this
  • Be required to obtain registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within 6 months of taking up the post

The Service

Martingale Outreach provides Housing Support and Personal Care services to individuals in the Dundee Area. Individuals live in their own tenancies or with family. Their needs cover a wide range, predominantly mental health issues, learning disability, autism, drug and alcohol issues and dementia.

Community Wellbeing Flats aMartingale provide brief intervention support to individuals on a short term basis. Support needs will be assessed for each individual to help develop coping strategies, assisting people who may be going through a period of crisis.

David Street Outreach Housing Support and Personal Care services are provided to individuals in the Broughty Ferry & Dundee area. Individuals live in their own tenancies or with family. Their needs cover a wide range, predominantly learning disability, autism, and mental health.

All individuals require support to maintain their tenancies, keeping their homes safe and secure. Enabling them to live a good quality of life, and supporting them in the recovery process,

The Role

To support the individuals with;

  • Emotional Support and support with recovery process
  • Promotion of positive mental health including coping strategies
  • Medication support such as administering medication
  • Accessing community based resourses
  • Daily life skills (menu planning, cooking, cleaning, laundry, shopping)
  • Support to manage finances and money.
  • Maintain personal health and hygiene including personal care
  • Support with other issues that arise

You will

You will have;

  • A positive, flexible attitude, with an encouraging nature
  • Excellent communication skills including verbal and written
  • Be highly organised with the ability to work on own initiative
  • The ability to react efficiently and effectively in emergency situations
  • Possess an SVQ 2 in Health and Social Care or have the ability to work towards this qualification
  • Flexibility with shifts patterns; weekend work are a requirement of this post
  • Be required to obtain registration with Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within 6 months of taking up the post
