Engage Renfrewshire is a third sector interface (TSI); this means that we support local charities and other not-for-profit groups, so that they can do even more of what they’re good at. We empower organisations to be safe, resourceful and effective, and to grow and develop their services - meaning our communities are inclusive and aspirational. We represent the third sector at a community planning level, provide an organisational hub, and offer financial services for individuals and organisations through our social enterprise Engage Finance. Furthermore, the Community And Voluntary Action Team work directly with local organisations and charities to increase their knowledge, resources and funding and to promote the services of our member organisations.

Funding and Organisational Development Officer

Purpose

To strengthen the voluntary sector in Renfrewshire by increasing the capacity of Engage Renfrewshire members through; growing voluntary income, designing and delivering a training calendar, and supporting governance and organisational development.

Main duties

  • To support a robust and resilient local third sector by supporting groups and organisations with organisational structures, governance and development issues, including charity setup
  • To provide support for voluntary funding particularly trusts and grants, crowdfunding and other income generation opportunities
  • To develop and deliver a calendar of relevant information, training, networking and other opportunities, which will build capacity and strengthen the sector locally
  • To manage a budget, ensure that training providers are delivering to a high standard, and to continually monitor and evaluate the relevance and effectiveness of all sessions
  • To continually monitor, evaluate, and anticipate the needs of the sector in terms of funding and organisational development, and to find new and innovative ways to respond effectively to changing need
  • To create and implement a communications plan that includes offline press and relevant online platforms, to update Engage members and partners on funding opportunities, and emphasise the importance of good governance and continued organisational development
  • To create, maintain and promote relevant web based resources, including the Engage Toolbox
  • To deliver short training courses/ info sessions on relevant agendas, where possible
  • To work with partners to identify and promote opportunities such as collaborative working, and new ways of bringing income to the sector
  • To understand and advise Third Sector organisations regards local fundraising, meeting income targets and generating donations from a variety of sources

As part of Renfrewshire’s ongoing commitment to using culture as a means of improving life chances, the officer will also support codesign of and involvement in local cultural programmes. The New Buddies Network Officer will be aware of the need to empower participants to build confidence, skills and trusted relationships with partners. This in turn will lead to meaningful codesign and participation in service delivery improvement, and thus increased levels of health and wellbeing.

Main Duties:

  • Utilise Engage’s stakeholder networks to build relationships between colleagues in health, employability and cultural services and local people from minority ethnic backgrounds.
  • Develop and manage IN Renfrewshire (Integration Network Renfrewshire), ensuring representation from multiple ethnicities.
  • Build awareness and capacity among local partners to accelerate equality and diversity by developing and promoting a Race Equality Toolkit
  • Act to improve on the levels of awareness and accessibility to health and employability services reported by Renfrewshire’s ethnic minority communities
