Due to an increase in funding, we are expanding our team and have full-time and part-time Locality Officer vacancies based in East Lothian. This role will involve working proactively with voluntary organisations, community groups and statutory partners to support the growth of volunteering, social enterprise and the local third sector.

We are looking to recruit to the post of Community First Administrator who will work with individuals, local communities, projects, and volunteers within our busy office premises. This is an exciting new post to build on and further expand and facilitate delivery of our Community Team. This is a unique opportunity to join our team and help drive forward our vision to fully engage with individuals and communities across East Lothian, particularly those individuals currently less engaged and involved in their communities or experiencing barriers to accessing services.
We are looking to recruit to the post of Community First Worker who will work in local communities, in an area of deprivation, providing 1:1 person-centred support to people in contact with our Statutory Services HSCP/ELC. This post will work with individuals to enable them to identify personal outcomes and priorities for their health and well-being and signpost and assist them to access local and national support services and activities. You must have experience of working with people who are experiencing complex social and emotional circumstances, a strong understanding of the challenges faced by people living in areas of deprivation in relation to living well, and extensive effective interpersonal skills in working with people on a 1:1 basis and with organisations.

The Community Taskforce is part of the East Lothian Caring Communities Initiative that will offer local people with support from volunteers, stay connected with their communities by working to alleviate loneliness, reduce social isolation, improve health and wellbeing and making communities stronger through volunteering.
The Coordinator will play a key role in delivering our high-quality services for people living in the East Lothian. You will be responsible for assessing the needs of the older people referred to us and tailoring the support offered to them based on their individual needs and interests.
Our service will offer an ad hoc task orientated service, volunteer befriending; exercise, social and activity groups; a regular newsletter. In this role you will take the lead for delivery for our practical support tasks, this support includes a shopping service that was established during the pandemic, gardening, and odd jobs around the house. We also occasionally gain funding to make a specific offer to service users.
The Coordinator will be required to keep accurate and up-to-date records on our shared database and help maintain positive relationships with external partners in East Lothian, as well as our other local partners.

This exciting role is new, and we are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and proactive funding and communications officer who can demonstrate a real passion for income generation and who can make a tangible contribution to increasing the charity’s and supporting the local third sectors funding position, while helping to raise the charity’s profile via communications strategy. We require someone who understands the nature of what we do and can empathise with the Third Sector. You will work alongside the Chief Officer to develop and implement a Funding and Communications Strategy for the organisation.
