Context
Voluntary Action East Renfrewshire SCIO is a dynamic local charity and the Third Sector Interface working to make East Renfrewshire a better place to live, work and do business. From climate action awareness, volunteer programmes, capacity supports and wellbeing activities, we deliver projects that promote inclusion, sustainability and community wellbeing.
Job Role
The purpose of the Climate Hub Lead role is to lead our small, dedicated team while staying closely connected to day-to-day operations, helping shape the next stage of VAER’s growth at our exciting new development at Rouken Glen, including the development of the East Renfrewshire Climate Action Hub at the site.
This is a hands-on and varied role, ideal for someone who enjoys combining big-picture thinking with practical, community-focused delivery.
Key Tasks
Working alongside the wider Voluntary Action staff team, Climate Action team and in collaboration with our 3rd, public and independent sector partners you will:
- Develop the East Renfrewshire Climate Action Hub at Rouken Glen with a focus on community growing and as a demonstration site
- Line manage the Climate Hub team to deliver the Climate Action Hub business plan and agreed activities
- Oversight of the Climate Action Hub team’s work programme, guiding staff on priorities and timescales
- Support the Climate Contact Worker by working with other managers to ensure a constructive approach to the recruitment and management of volunteers
- Maintain good connections at a strategic level across East Renfrewshire with ERC Net Zero team
- Oversight of improved access for East Renfrewshire residents to participate in Climate Action activity locally and/or nationally
- Oversight of the wider Rouken Glen site for community, wellbeing and enterprise activity development
- Oversight of site usage
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive risk register for all aspects of the site
- Develop processes to ensure both regular and seasonal maintenance are carried out
