Partners in Advocacy started as part of Barnardos in the 1980’s and became a completely independent organisation in 1998. We are very proud that we are one of the oldest established independent advocacy organisations in Scotland. We have offices in Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow. Our Advocacy Workers come from many different backgrounds. We are also fortunate to have Volunteer Advocates who are supported from our Edinburgh office. We provide independent advocacy for individuals living with learning disabilities, autistic spectrum disorders, physical disabilities and people over 65. We also provide independent advocacy to children and young people who are living with mental health issues, additional support needs and learning disabilities. We remain the only independent advocacy service working Scotland-wide that supports children aged 12 to 15 to have their views considered when decisions are being made about the support they get with their learning. We offer independent advocacy which is free to individuals, as well as some collective advocacy (group advocacy).

Independent Advocate – My Rights My Say

  • £25,392 pro-rata
  • Remote: Home based Nation Wide, Scotland, however travel may be required to attend Face-to-Face visits if requested by the advocacy partner.

Partners in Advocacy has established itself as one of Scotland’s leading providers of independent advocacy, delivering exceptional advocacy services since 1998.

We are thrilled to present a wonderful opportunity within our supportive and welcoming Children and Young Persons team. As an independent Advocate you will have the privilege of providing one-on-one independent advocacy to young people in our My Rights My Say Service that supports Children with additional support needs aged 12-15 who want to exercise their own rights within their education. Through this role, you will ensure that young people’s voices and wishes are heard, enabling them to make informed choices, protect their rights and have a meaningful impact on decisions that affect their lives.

Independent Advocate – Childrens Hearings System

We are recruiting for our Children’s Hearings advocacy team for an Independent Advocate for the City of Edinburgh (21 hours). You will be joining a busy team supporting children and young people going through the Children’s Hearings System. Please note, applicants for this role must be based in or close to the City of Edinburgh.
