We aim to encourage and enable parents across Scotland to make the most of the opportunities available to them so they can flourish as happy, healthy and achieving families. One Parent Families Scotland provides help to all single parent families: mums, dads, young parents and kinship carers.

OPFS HQ is in central Edinburgh, there are local services in Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Falkirk, Edinburgh and Dundee with National digital and helpline services.

Main duties

The Employability Advisor will be responsible to Regional Co-ordinator and will work as a member of OPFS Lanarkshire Employability Service, to provide employability support for single parents and young parents facing additional barriers to engaging with services, entering suitable employment, education, and training opportunities through one-to-one meetings and group work sessions.

The Family Support Assistant (Young Parents) will be responsible to the Service Manager and work with Family Support Workers to support the delivery of the Family Support Service for young parents. The role will include the provision of family support, outreach activities, supporting the delivery and helping with the co-ordination of Group work activities.

The Regional Coordinator role will contribute to the organisation’s vision of a Scotland in which single parents and their children are valued and treated equally and fairly by coordinating components which contribute to the North Lanarkshire service. The role holder will, working alongside colleagues in OPFS Management Teams, be responsible for strategic direction and delivery of services tailored for single parent families in North Lanarkshire.
