Govan HELP is recruiting Community Connector to lead and coordinate place-based community development activity across Govan.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and experienced community development practitioner to play a key role in strengthening collaboration between residents, community groups, public services, and third-sector partners. You will help ensure local priorities are identified, supported, and delivered in a coordinated, inclusive and community-led way.

The role will focus on developing and delivering a place-based action plan, aligned with local priorities around poverty reduction, family wellbeing, inclusion, and community resilience.

Govan HELP is a trusted community anchor organisation with deep roots in Govan. We work alongside local people and partners to support collective action, amplify lived experience and improve outcomes for families and communities. Our place-based approach focuses on addressing the social, economic, and environmental factors affecting people’s lives, complementing wider child poverty, family wellbeing and community planning strategies across Glasgow.

Key Responsibilities

The Community Connector will:

  • Develop and coordinate a place-based action plan linked to local priorities
  • Work closely with residents, steering groups, and partners to agree and deliver actions
  • Map community assets, services, and activity to identify strengths, gaps and opportunities
  • Build and sustain effective partnerships across community, voluntary and statutory sectors
  • Design and deliver community engagement activity, communications, and local campaigns
  • Monitor progress and impact, gathering data, feedback, and evidence
  • Prepare reports and updates for funders, partners, and community stakeholders
  • Support delivery of targeted funding initiatives, including small grants or participatory funding
  • Manage allocated project budgets and contribute to funding applications
  • Contribute to the wider work of Govan HELP’s Family Support Team
  • Uphold organisational values, safeguarding responsibilities, and inclusive practice

Person Specification

Essential

  • Experience of community development or community engagement work
  • Strong partnership-working skills across sectors
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Proven project planning and coordination experience
  • Experience of monitoring, evaluation and report writing
  • Ability to work independently with initiative and creativity
  • Commitment to asset-based, strengths-focused approaches
  • Strong values around equality, inclusion, and participation

Desirable

  • Experience of participatory budgeting or community-led funding
  • Experience of communications, promotion, or social media
  • Experience facilitating consultation, engagement, or co-design
  • Knowledge of the Govan community and local partnerships.
