Policy and Campaigns Officer

The Equality Network is a leading LGBTI+ equality and human rights charity in Scotland. We are seeking a new Policy and Campaigns Officer, to work with us on our ground-breaking work. This role will involve developing our policy positions, working with policy makers, influencers, and the media, providing information on LGBTI+ issues, consulting with LGBTI+ people, and supporting LGBTI+ people to directly engage with policy makers.

The role is made up of two parts, each funded by different parts of the Equality Network’s income streams: the policy remit, funded by our core grant, and the campaigns remit, funded by our campaigns fundraising.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about LGBTI+ equality and human rights and have experience working in the remit of equalities policy and legislation, as well as considerable experience in campaign work. You will be a great communicator.

The Equality Network’s current Director will be retiring soon. We are seeking a new Director to head up our ground-breaking work on LGBTI+ equality and human rights in Scotland. Our Director has a key leadership role on LGBTI+ equality in Scotland, including with policy-makers, the media and the public. Working closely with our senior management team, and together with our Board and all staff, the Director will ensure that we continue to play a leading role in changing Scotland for the better for LGBTI+ people.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about LGBTI+ equality. You will be a great communicator, with excellent political judgement and acumen, and the vision to galvanise the LGBTI+ equality movement to achieve real change. You will have an excellent understanding of the Scottish political context and a track record in achieving change. You will have a naturally collaborative leadership style, and a commitment to the development and implementation of organisational strategy. You will have a record of senior organisational leadership, including of financial management, fundraising and governance.

We are looking to recruit a full-time Community Engagement and Development Coordinator to join our dedicated team working for LGBTI equality and rights. This will include engaging with LGBTI community members across Scotland to identify needs and priorities, supporting the development of a diverse range of LGBTI community groups and organisations across Scotland, and building the capacity of LGBTI individuals and organisations to become more engaged at local and national level.

Lived Experience Coordinator - Scottish Trans

We are looking to recruit a Lived Experience Coordinator to engage and consult with diverse trans communities and people all over Scotland in ongoing work to improve NHS gender identity healthcare services.

The Lived Experience Coordinator will become a member of the Scottish Government’s Gender Identity Healthcare Reference Group (“the Group”), which is overseeing delivery of the “NHS gender identity services: strategic action framework 2022-2024

Although the Lived Experience Coordinator will be hosted in the Scottish Trans team within the Equality Network, they will be an independent voice representing the views, experiences and needs of trans and non-binary people in the ongoing work to improve gender identity healthcare services, via membership of the Group.

They will be expected to represent and champion the needs of people waiting to use, using, or who have used gender identity healthcare services, to the Group, to ensure that improvements to these services are understood and shaped by the people who need them.

Applicants should have lived experience of using or waiting to use gender identity healthcare services.

The closing date for applications is 9am on Monday 5th September. Interviews will take place via Zoom in the week starting 12th September
