Paralegal – Enable Trustee Service

Enable is a visionary charity and leader of social care and employability support services to people with a learning disability across Scotland. We also a provide specialist trust management services via our subsidiary Enable Trustee Service.

We have a unique opportunity for a Paralegal to join our in-house Legal and Corporate Governance team.

We are looking for a Paralegal with demonstrable private client experience, preferably in trust management, who will have operational responsibility for the service. You will ensure all aspects of trust management duties and tasks are carried out in line with individual trust deed provisions and applicable legislation. The role shall be reportable to management who oversee the work parameters of this role.

Your experience and any relevant qualifications must be gained and or completed in Scots Law

About You

Essential Criteria

  • Relevant Paralegal certification with recent continuous professional development,
  • Demonstrable experience in a private client, trust management or in-house legal environment,
  • Strong knowledge of Scottish trust and succession laws and anti-money laundering regulations,
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication, drafting and report writing skills,
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills,
  • Strong IT skills, in various packages, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel,

Desirable Criteria

  • Access to personal vehicle to allow travelling from time to time,
  • STEP Qualified (Trust and Estate Practitioner),
  • Understanding of adults with incapacity and local authority/ housing legislation,
  • Understanding of investments and investment risk

Paralegal – Commercial Contracts

Enable, a visionary charity and leader of social care and employability services to people with a learning disability across Scotland, requires an in-house Paralegal with demonstrable commercial contracts experience to join its Legal and Corporate Governance function.

This role’s main purpose is to provide commercial contract support to the Legal and Corporate Governance Team which seeks to ensure all aspects of contractual and organisational compliance. We seek someone who can work autonomously, to lead on various contractual matters and who can work closely with procurement and operational colleagues on new and existing business. Additionally, the Paralegal may be required to support with ad-hoc projects and any commercial matters which may arise.

  • Strong ability to prioritise a high workload and meet strict deadlines,
  • Strong PC skills, in various packages, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel.

Desirable Criteria

Some Knowledge and understanding of:

  • third sector/ local authority legislation (health and social care) and contracts,
  • Public Contracts Scotland
  • Commercial awareness
