Our Green Skills Centre offers group training and development work to young people and other groups at risk of experiencing homelessness. This is an exciting opportunity to be coordinate and help shape our new Green Skills project. You will work closely with the Green Skills Centre team to deliver courses to recent school leavers, many of whom are likely to have gained few qualifications while at school. You will ensure young people are supported throughout the course and will build relationships with each group. The role will include recruitment for the course and ensuring all delivery is done in a person-centred way. You will work with the young people during and after the course to identify the most appropriate next step for them such as further education, training or secure employment.

About you

You will be experienced in working with young people and have experience, or an understanding of mental health and the challenges young people face when leaving school.

Your ability to build excellent working relationships will enable you to motivate young people to engage with the service. You should also have an interest in green skills, land, animals and the environment.

Over the last decade there has been a significant decline in the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people, with CAMHS recording an increase in referrals; in the first quarter of 2023, 10,500 children and young people were referred in Scotland. The Edinburgh Resilience Programme, inspired by the Edinburgh Wellbeing Pact, works with people aged 60+. We work holistically to support clients to; discharge from hospital, access suitable housing, food, energy security and welfare. About the programme

The Edinburgh Resilience Programme, inspired by the Edinburgh Wellbeing Pact, works with people aged 60+. We support them to strengthen connections with their communities and access resources so they can live well and have more good days. We are funded by the Edinburgh Health and Social Care Partnership.

About the role

Partnership working will be central to this role. You will work autonomously in the community, providing one-to-one holistic support to people aged 60+ living in Edinburgh. You will also actively participate in ethical data collection and other research activities with our partners and the people we support to shape the vision for this project.

About you

We are looking for someone who is good at building trusted relationships with people. You should be positive, able to work on your own initiative, and be innovative and flexible in providing support.

Knowledge of challenges faced by older people and experience of working with them will be important. Experience of carrying out assessments and/or being involved in research would also be an advantage.

OPAL (Older People, Active Lives) works with individuals and communities to promote independence and wellbeing for people age 60+ across West Lothian. We deliver person-centred, early intervention and prevention services to keep people connected in later life. Our service aims to provide people with the tools to enable them to live independently and remain in their own homes for as long as they want to be there.

About the role

The Senior Service Coordinator leads the Service Coordinator and Service Support Assistant in the delivery of the befriending element of the OPAL service and the management of our volunteers.

As Senior Service Coordinator you will:

• Oversee all aspects of the one-to-one support element of the service
• Manage the volunteer journey including recruitment, retention and supervision
• Promote sustainable community connections through befriending, encouraging service users to continue contributing within their community
• Build a network of support to boost the continued development of the service

The role is fixed term to cover for an internal secondment.

About the role

You will develop our digital and off-line content to raise awareness of our work, tell our stories, positively contribute to public debate surrounding homelessness and social exclusion, and support Cyrenians appeals to raise vital donations. This will include gathering information from across the organisation and developing clear and impactful communications.

You should have a creative approach, excellent communication skills, an eye for detail and confidence to work across a range of platforms.

An exciting opportunity to join a new team to support people affected by socio-economic deprivation via local GP practices

About the project

The Community Links Worker programme supports people to live well by strengthening connections between community resources and primary care. Community Link Workers belong to a network in Edinburgh that is managed by the Edinburgh Health and Social Care Partnership.

About the role

Working in select GP surgeries in Stockbridge and Hopetoun you will provide one-to-one person-centred support to people in contact with the GP practice team. You will work with individuals to enable them to identify personal outcomes and priorities for their health and wellbeing and link them to local and national support services and activities.

About you

You will have experience of working with people who are experiencing complex social and emotional circumstances, and a strong understanding of the challenges faced by people living in areas of deprivation. You will use your excellent interpersonal skills to deliver effective one-to-one work as well as make connections with other organisations.

You will be an experienced communications professional who understands how Government and Parliament work, the process for legislation and the influence of the media in political decision making. About the role

Cyrenians WiSH project is an exciting new partnership with Resonance, a social investment organisation, which is purchasing homes for charity partners to provide to vulnerable women. Domestic Abuse is the biggest cause of women’s homelessness in Scotland and the fund is purchasing up to 30 homes for Cyrenians to provide to women and children who have had to leave an abusive household.

You will support women settle in to a safe home and support them with ongoing safety and wellbeing. As well as providing some case work directly, as Senior Key Worker you will provide line management to a small team of two case workers.

An exciting opportunity to join a team supporting people affected by substance usage in conjunction with the Edinburgh Access Place

About the project

The Access Place is an integrated service comprising health, housing and social work services under one roof for people experiencing homelessness. The clinical team are supporting people in receipt of medication assisted treatment.

About the role

Working alongside clinicians in the Edinburgh Access Place, you will provide one-to-one person-centred support to people in contact with the GP practice team. You will work with individuals to enable them to identify personal outcomes and priorities for their health and wellbeing and link them to local support services and activities.

You will have experience of working with people who are experiencing complex social and emotional circumstances, and a strong understanding of the challenges faced by people experiencing homelessness. You will use your excellent interpersonal skills to deliver effective one-to-one work as well as make connections with other organisations to establish referral pathways on behalf of people who use the service

About the project

Since 2017 Cyrenians has been running the Visitors’ Centre at HMP Addiewell. We are committed to supporting families affected by imprisonment. Our centre is open during prison visiting times and we offer families who visit Addiewell a space that is therapeutic, fun and supportive.

About the role

You will support families who are affected by imprisonment by being their emotional and practical support when required.

You will also make links with other local organisations in order be able to help families access additional activities and/or support.

You will also help and support children and young people during their family bonding visits.

About you

This is a great opportunity for someone who is committed to working with families to support meaningful contact with their loved one throughout a period of imprisonment. You should be approachable, and work in a trauma informed way during each interaction with those who visit. You should be innovative in your approach to everyday working; as well being as a good communicator with strong listening skills. Sensitive to the needs of prisoner’s families, you should also be unafraid of being a bit silly when required!

You will be working within a small knowledgeable team who will give you a full induction to all aspects of Cyrenians HMP Addiewell visitor centre. Since 2017 Cyrenians has been running the Visitors’ Centre at HMP Addiewell. We are committed to supporting families affected by imprisonment. Our centre is open during prison visiting times and we offer families who visit Addiewell a space that is therapeutic, fun and supportive.

This is a new post to enhance the work we do with children and families at HMP Addiewell during their visits.

You will design and deliver engaging activities, suitable to the space, that encourage creativity in the young people and help them have the best visit experience possible – the more glitter the better!

The role will also add value to our existing Community Links work (where the referrals will come from) and support the work of Mental Health Nurses.

As Garden Coordinator you’ll contribute to designing and managing a creative and interactive garden and programme for those engaging with our services. About LEAP out of Hours Care service

We support up to 11 participants at a time to live within our therapeutic community, where we provide a supportive and safe space.

During the day, participants attend the NHS Lothian and Edinburgh Abstinence Project (LEAP). This is an intensive programme for those who want to stop drinking or using drugs. The programme is delivered over 12 weeks and participants attend a structured programme Monday to Friday.

In the evenings and on weekends we provide support, a friendly ear, and therapeutic activities to the community.

About the role

Our Board of Trustees are responsible for overseeing our governance, setting our strategy, and ensuring that we’re accountable and administered effectively. Our Treasurer is a key part of our Board, and takes the lead at Board level on:

· Ensuring we keep proper accounts and monitoring our financial performance

· Ensuring that we have robust and effective financial controls and policies

· Keeping the Board informed of its financial duties and responsibilities

· Liaising with our external auditor

· Supporting our Director of Finance and Corporate Services

· Ensuring statutory returns are made to relevant regulators

Time commitment

We currently hold 2-hour Board meetings every six weeks, which you can join in-person or online. This is also a finance committee meeting before each Board meeting, which the Treasurer chairs. You will also have the opportunity to attend further internal and external events for learning and connection.

You’ll be experienced and skilled in accounting and business management, and keen to use these skills to monitor and ensure our financial plans and sustainability as our Treasurer. You’ll have a positive, pragmatic attitude which will help you to work collaboratively with the rest of our trustees and our staff team.

About the role

Based within our Community Connections Team, Cyrenians is looking for proactive, passionate people with lived experience of homelessness. We’re offering a 1-year fixed term contract, up to 16 hours per week (we are flexible to individual circumstances). The aim of the role is to give those with a lived experience of homelessness a range of work-based skills over different homelessness outreach and prevention services.

This diverse role will offer you an opportunity to gain work-based skills and participate in a bespoke training programme. By working alongside multi staff disciplinary teams, you will work with those encountering multiple complex needs, getting a flavour of how this is delivered across different homelessness services. Our person-centred approach means the post is tailored, enabling you to offer your own experiences of homelessness, to help improve the programme design and delivery.

About you

As this is a varied post we don’t expect you to have experience in all the areas it covers!

You will have experience of homelessness and the support services that help those navigating the homeless system. You will be expected to use your own experience to assist others who have had or are in contact with homelessness services.

This might mean supporting people to attend appointments, or engaging with people who are accessing services.

Your most important attributes will be your proactive attitude, enthusiasm for learning and flexibility. You’ll also be a great communicator and will approach everyone you come into contact with compassion and understanding.

Cyrenians City Community provides accommodation for up to 7 young people who will have experienced a tough reality, potentially as a consequence of family breakdown, homelessness, drug or alcohol issues, or poor mental health. Our unique approach to supported accommodation helps young people to develop their skills and build supportive relationships.

About Scottish Centre for Conflict Resolution

Family relationship breakdown is one of the biggest causes of youth homelessness.

We work with young people and families experiencing conflict which is affecting their relationships and lives, including providing mediation and activities. We also provide free training and events which support professionals to better understand conflict, emotional needs and relationships.

About the role

The Emotional Health and Wellbeing Lead is a new post created to ensure that we are able to continue to evolve our work and extend our reach. The postholder will be responsible for taking forward our work with children and young people within Cyrenians’ Scottish Centre for Conflict Resolution (SCCR). The role will deliver on our earlier intervention strategy to tackle youth homelessness and our work to transform the emotional and human cost of conflict.

Since 2017 Cyrenians has been running the Visitors’ Centre at HMP Addiewell. We are committed to supporting families affected by imprisonment. Our centre is open during prison visiting times and we offer families who visit Addiewell a space that is therapeutic, fun and supportive.

Cyrenians’ ‘Our Future Leaders’ project drives our commitment to #KeepThePromise. We believe strongly that young people should have meaningful input into our service design and delivery. The Youth Engagement Leader will be responsible for ensuring young people are involved in decision making that effects them, across the organisation.

You’ll have the opportunity to work with individuals and groups across our services, including our diverse City, Farm and Lotus communities. You’ll also drive and develop our youth forum and ambassadors’ programme, which predominantly involve current and previous communities residents.

About Linburn Walled Garden

Cyrenians is in the process of signing a three-year lease with Sight Scotland to manage and develop the walled garden at Linburn, West Lothian. The site is 5,000 square meters and already grows a variety of herbs, wild garlic, orchids and vegetables. The garden is well positioned and in an accessible location close to Cyrenians’ farm, Sight Scotland Linburn Centre, the Military Museum Scotland and Wilkieston Legion Hall. This site offers great potential for further development as we look to expand on our seasonal growing and a range of wellbeing nature-based activities. Cyrenians are the lead partner in Live Life which is a partnership working together to help veterans and their families and carers with their mental and physical health.

About the role

We are looking for a flexible and inspiring Garden & Volunteer Wellbeing Coordinator to come and be part of an exciting community walled garden project. You will have experience of supporting staff and volunteers and be able to assist with the project management of the ongoing development of the garden. Helping ensure that the development of the garden is completed within the seasonal timescale. This is initially a 18-month position with a high possibility of extension as we look to develop the space for health and wellbeing activities.

You’ll be:

• Helping with the ongoing development and maintenance of the walled garden

• Working with Live Life and other partners to promote volunteering and creating a space for wellbeing activities

• Helping to recruit volunteers to assist with season growth

An exciting opportunity to join a new team to support people affected by socio-economic deprivation via local GP practices

About the project

The Community Links Worker programme aims to support people to live well by strengthening connections between community resources and primary care. It’s funded by Falkirk Health and Social Care Partnership’s Integration Joint Board (IJB) and delivered in partnership with GP practices and the 3rd sector.

About the role

Working in select GP surgeries in Falkirk East (Grangemouth) and Falkirk Central you will provide one-to-one person-centred support to people in contact with the GP practice team. You will work with individuals to enable them to identify personal outcomes and priorities for their health and wellbeing and link them to local and national support services and activities.

About you

You will have experience of working with people who are experiencing complex social and emotional circumstances, and a strong understanding of the challenges faced by people living in areas of deprivation. You will use your excellent interpersonal skills to deliver effective one-to-one work as well as make connections with other organisations.

An opportunity has arisen within Cyrenians Communities for a skilled people person with strong organisational skills to oversee our volunteer recruitment and development processes.

About the Communities

Cyrenians Communities are at the very heart of the organisation and are where it all started. Cyrenians was founded in 1968 with the creation of our City Community followed by the Farm Community in 1972. We have grown and developed, but remain true to the approach that we first took – that of putting people first.

About the role

This role is designed to keep our unique peer volunteer model running smoothly and attract new volunteers. It will also ensure that the volunteers have an effective induction, and receive support and training during their placements with us. These volunteers provide vital dedicated support to our service and this role is an exciting opportunity to strengthen our model.

About you

You will possess the skills to market the Communities to potential new volunteers, as well as bring fresh and interesting ideas for developing the volunteer model further. You will have experience in recruitment, and a knowledge of volunteer development. You will also have strong communication skills, be able to deal with competing demands and the ability to demonstrate Cyrenians values of compassion, respect, integrity and innovation in the work that you do.

We’ll encourage you to be creative and innovative, to get the best out of existing systems and implement new initiatives.

You’ll work with an experienced part-time Administrator, the wider communities’ staff team and have a supportive manager. You’ll also have access to wider Cyrenians support, including our learning and development programme, and staff wellbeing services.

About the Walled Garden

The Walled Garden is one of our Cyrenians public facing services, where we support people on Community Payback Orders to put back into the community and develop their own horticultural skills.

Set in a public space of half an acre within Dollar Park, Falkirk the garden is highly valued by the community, and is a home for events, volunteering and enjoying the tranquillity it has to offer.

About the role

As Garden Coordinator you’ll contribute to designing and managing a creative and interactive garden and programme for those engaging with our services. You’ll be surprised at how many opportunities you’ll have to perfect planting, bring new ideas and share your enthusiasm and garden knowledge with others. As you’d imagine, there are plenty of chances to get your hands dirty – and it’s safe to say you’ll never be bored!

You’ll also support, engage and manage a real variety of people to help us we meet our aims, including a small staff team, people on community payback orders and community volunteers.

About you

You’ll be an experienced garden coordinator with a dynamic ‘can-do’ attitude and a genuine interest in gardens and working outdoors. Your optimistic, forward-thinking outlook will help you to nurture an environment where people feel safe, valued and have a purpose as well as ownership of their own journey plan.

As you’ll inspire participants to achieve their future goals, it will help to have knowledge of the Justice system, and like us, you’ll be values-led and relationships-based in all that you do. You’ll also use your excellent interpersonal skills to motivate and inspire participants to get the most out of the opportunities that the garden presents.
